there are a lot of malaysian indie bands like nitrus, skudap-skudip, gerhana ska cinta, plague of happiness,force vommit, harmacy, butterfingers, laila's lounge, pop shuvit, bunkface, OAG, secondhand combat, silent scream, ... yeah man a lot of it!!!

Ooo ok. Well I don't quite know most of the newer indie bands around. Might even miss some of the older ones. The one you've stated older local bands I know la. I used to have a friend who intro me all the local indies. Among the one you've listed I've listened to a couple of them and they are pretty good.

Honestly I like their songs more than our more popular over-hyped local bands

the point of Independent band is really to do something different from the typical music label company usually do. usually the music label company goes for the hottest trend of music and never dare (usually) try some experimental music due to the cost.... (yelah... tak laku nanti dierorg yang rugi kan?)

so indie was born....
but if indie gone to mainstream and still stick to their originality.... hey... be my guest... give support.... but honestly.... when u go mainstream..... the band is bound to the company... meaning the music they used to play... will be somewhat lost its touch....

i know there are a lot of good indie band here in malaysia..... better than the mainstream band but dont have the chance to prove it to the world yet... (or they like to stay independent....)

my ear will only react to butterfingers!!

Most great/legendary band start in underground scene not reality tv show. example :- Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Guns N Roses, Motorhead etc.

adakah ini yg membezakan antara indie dgn mainstream? medium promosi? kalau dulu underground dikatakan muzik yg 'under radar', tapi skrg dgn ade internet, underground macam dah takda makna.

dressing and appearence sucks.....noh especially....so typical wannabe indipendent band....

muzik label biasanya ikut demand, kalau bende tu yg orang nak dengar, bende tulah yg diorang push. skrg hip hop mainstream, 'indie' mainstream sebab ramai dengar. Contoh yuna semua org kenal, masuk carta lagu2 popila.
