in Tom Clacy's book (or as he had envisioned) Jack Ryan is a young analyst caught up in the tangle of all this espionage.
tom clacy actually hated the idea of (old) jack ryan (harrison ford). Ford had the BO draw. Doubt TC will like another go at 'older' JRyan
Chris Pine is interesting but not many male actors can slip into action & still have that suave of Hans Solo/Indiana Jones/as American President James Marshall..etc
Just found out HFord is also 'The Expendables 3' & later ID5 (!)

QUOTE(hfi @ Jan 4 2014, 12:04 AM) I think Harrison Ford had been the perfect cast for Jack Ryan. I really couldn't imagine anyone else playing that role after having read the books. Clearly he's too old for that character now. Pine is an interesting pick but i think that's mostly a Holywood angle. He's young, good looking and almost charismatic. But he looks more like a field operator than an analyst. Jack Ryan is an analyst first, action second. Personally think Matt Damon makes a good Jack Ryan. That role he played in Syriana pretty much spot personify Jack Ryan. TC hated/disliked the idea of casting of Harrison ford even the first time. (Too old) Yup would be interesting that of Matt Damon. Though many of the fans still associate HF = Jack Ryan [edited for clarity. It was years ago, I think it was mentioned from the movie/press junket for jack ryan back on tv) This post has been edited by koolspyda: Jan 5 2014, 11:04 AM
