Sauce: http://www.thedailybeast.com/blogs-and-sto...-for-clooney/2/QUOTE Update: Is George Clooney the New Jack Ryan?
The Daily Beast's Kim Masters revealed this bit in her article about George Clooney's move to Sony Pictures:
Clooney also appears to be looking for his next commercial opportunity now that the Ocean's franchise seems to be played out. A source says he expressed interest in playing Jack Ryan when and if Paramount attempts to revive the Tom Clancy series. Clooney seems to recognize that at this time in the world and this time in his life (he's pushing 50), it's time for some commercial maintenance.
Alec Baldwin originated Ryan in 1990's The Hunt for Red October. Harrison Ford played the character in 1992's Patriot Games and 1994's Clear and Present Danger. Ben Affleck played Ryan in 2002's The Sum of All Fears.
UPDATE: Variety reports that Paramount and producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura are awaiting the first draft of an original screenplay currently called the "Untitled Tom Clancy Project" from screenwriter Hossein Amini (Jude, Killshot). This post has been edited by firedauz: Sep 20 2010, 11:17 PM

Source:- http://www.beyondhollywood.com/one-jack-de...ck-ryan-reboot/QUOTE One Jack Deserves Another: Jack Bender Possibly Directing Jack Ryan Reboot
Man, it seems like we’ve been hearing and talking about this Jack Ryan reboot that Paramount is itching to do for a while now. After a lot of fits and starts, including Chris Pine coming onboard a while back as the new, younger Jack Ryan, and a parade of directors coming and going (including, at one point, Sam Raimi) it seems like Paramount have finally found their director in Jack Bender (left), one of the executive producers and regular directors of the “Lost” TV show.
At least, that’s the current word from Vulture, who says that Bender is “a cat’s breath away from landing the job” of directing Ryan’s return to the big screen after four previous outings, which includes three actors in the Jack Ryan role preceding Chris Pine. Maybe they should get Ben Affleck to direct, thus completing the transfer of one Jack Ryan to another.
In any case, in the reboot, currently going under the title of “Moscow”, Pine will play a former Marine Jack Ryan, whose first civilian gig takes him to Moscow where he goes to work for an eccentric Russian billionaire and finds himself implicated in a terrorist plot. Our hero must go on the run from bad guys and the authorities to clear his name. Sucks to be you, Jack Ryan.

among all of the Jack Ryan, my favorite is still Harrison Ford, the worst one is Ben Affleck I'll prefer if they can use back Ford, but maybe he's too old for the role but his age will be perfect for the presidency story line

Sauce: http://heatvision.hollywoodreporter.com/20...-exclusive.htmlQUOTE Anthony Peckham to Pen New Jack Ryan Movie
Screenwriter Anthony Peckham has been hired by Paramount to work on the untitled Jack Ryan project. Hossein Amini and Adam Koxac previously worked on the script for the thriller.
Chris Pine is attached to star as Jack Ryan in the film, based on Tom Clancy's intelligence officer-turned-action hero. Jack Bender ("Lost") is attached to direct with Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Mace Neufeld producing.
The movie, expected to tell the story of Ryan's early career, is set in Russia, with terrorist acts as a backdrop. Shooting is targeted to start this year or early next year.
Peckham has worked on the script for Sherlock Holmes, Invictus and The Book of Eli.

The Sum of All Fears (2002)
With the new Jack Ryan movie around the corner, I thought it would be a good idea to revisit the previous incarnation of this franchise.
I decided to work backwards, namely
The Sum of All Fears (2002) The Hunt for Red October (1990) Patriot Games (1992) Clear and Present Danger (1994)
I believe this to date is the least well received Jack Ryan movie, and have to add i actually like this!!
Poor Ben Affleck (Jack Ryan) had for some odd reason gotten some negative rap.
Anything he is attached to people seem to against, and again, I actually think he did this role admirably.
Favorite character would definitely be Anatoli Grushkov/Spinnaker (Michael Byrne)
Morgan Freeman a close second.
This was meant to be a reboot of the Jack Ryan franchises, with Ben Affleck as lead and because of the lack of box office, it did not work out that way.
Now we are going to get Chris Pine to spearhead another reboot... I'm concern,.... Not really sure if he can manage that...
If you like mystery, thriller, action give this a go, if you have not already.
My Two Sen.

in Tom Clacy's book (or as he had envisioned) Jack Ryan is a young analyst caught up in the tangle of all this espionage.
tom clacy actually hated the idea of (old) jack ryan (harrison ford). Ford had the BO draw. Doubt TC will like another go at 'older' JRyan
Chris Pine is interesting but not many male actors can slip into action & still have that suave of Hans Solo/Indiana Jones/as American President James Marshall..etc
Just found out HFord is also 'The Expendables 3' & later ID5 (!)

I think Harrison Ford had been the perfect cast for Jack Ryan. I really couldn't imagine anyone else playing that role after having read the books. Clearly he's too old for that character now. Pine is an interesting pick but i think that's mostly a Holywood angle. He's young, good looking and almost charismatic. But he looks more like a field operator than an analyst. Jack Ryan is an analyst first, action second. Personally think Matt Damon makes a good Jack Ryan. That role he played in Syriana pretty much spot personify Jack Ryan.

I was looking forward to Debt of Honor and Executive Orders to hit the big screen as that's when i thought HF as JR would really kick off. I remember reading Executive Orders and imagining HF being the president lol. Alas that never happened.

Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit is nothing more than just another cliched CIA action thriller. I find it a disgrace to the late Tom Clancy.
