@Xonius,
Different regions are shipped with different Model Numbers.

and yes, tinkelbel makes a good point there as well. hence don't simply lay out baseless claims next time

Hmm...Its quite fast for people outside KL/Selangor, why ar?
*
same analogy with, the vehicles registration numbers for wilayah persekutuan and selangor typically sail way ahead of the rest of malaysia?

those states are more dense in population and presumably have a slightly higher buying and contributed to most of the country's GDP?

At the Maxis KLCC iPhone roadshow. Didn't know it was Machines or I would have gone to Maxis (Menara Maxis) direct. Just got back from Machines. Still no stock.... so I complained. Maxis is decidedly unprofessional about this. They shouldn't sell phones that they can't deliver. Must demand for compensation somehow... maybe some freebie like cover or something.
*

please do try something radical and then report your results over here for our perusal. thank you

Oh sorry for my mistakes at the beginning. What i meant was is it possible to retrieve the smses and store into a backup folder in our computer? The company computer is running on Windows XP OS and we need the smses as a proof and evidence for Bursa Malaysia to check regarding receiving client's order.
*
nope unfortunately.

two solutions:

1. go jailbreak your unit and then SHH or an equivalent method to retrieve the text message bit.

2. requires a MAC for this

Aiyak. Need a Mac pc or lappie to dload the Syphone. Hmm, i'll discuss with my boss about it first.

Anyway, thanks bro.
*
or, the less sophisticated method; print screen the SMS conversation and send them to a dedicated e-mail account.

maybe when u are in maxis tomorrow, u challenge them that maxis don't have enough stock to meet demand, why they still promote iphone3gs? biggrin.gif
*
because obtaining adequate stocks from apple to sell/waiting for customs & SIRIM to clear them, is beyond maxis' control.

but promoting them is within and at every corporation's puritanical instinct

this LAW is good...no f***ing monopoly capitalist system...telco-friendly is perfect method...but maxis contract basis n closed prepaid package is same as monopoly aka they are tied to their operatoryawn.gif . so dissapointed. whistling.gif
*
another solution then; move to another network provider, if you feel that maxis is not doing a good job.

kid of agree... but i guess he is here because he want the iphone as well?? but if maxis is not good? what other service provider out there is good? maybe digi and maxis is on par. other then that dont think there is other telco that is as good as they are....:/
*
simple. opt for a parallel/grey import then.

if you cannot settle for that, nothing to moan about.

life is never fair to begin with.

Actually I think the only reason that Locking the phones is justified in some countries or for some telcos is because the cost of the phone that you have to pay...

Like when I was studying in UK... some of the locked phones that were sold are really cheap.. so I guess they want you to keep to their service etc else they'll lose money on the phone..

In Malaysia
.. the IPhone isn't really a
""OMG huge discount!! ", so I guess they don't really need to lock it to their network.
*
because local telecommunication law prohibits them from doing so.

Hmm that is kinda why I also went to Maxis center to order.. also add to the fact I don't really like Machines because of their staff.. most of them are either clueless or clueless+lannsi(for some reason, they think working in mac store makes them high-class)

This is of course speaking from my own experience out of a few Machines store I went to (to buy my various ipods)... but if I had to choose one,Ā  it would be BU new wing one..

Seriously.. being a staff in Apple or one of their "genius" bar you are just being at the bottom of the IT food chain.. why so lannsi for what I also don't understand.
*
well back in malaysia, i patronised machines (and other equivalent apple resellers locally) regularly as i couldn't afford buying them, i thought the least i could do is to experience apple products on hand.

they are not at all "lansi" as portrayed by you to be honest.

either you have incredibly high expectation of them or overly conscious or how the /k/ would call it; face problem

Hay guise. So I just came back from HTC shop at KLCC (on level 3 near machines) and they said that they have some iPhone available to you guise, without contract.

You can enjoy your 16GB as soon as this evening, and 32GB the next day :-)

The prices will be RM3300 for 16GB, and RM3600 for 32GB.

Enjoy :-)

Their contact no is 03-21641990 :-)
*
what huge, chunky profit that they are making over there.

assuming that they got their units from australia, the net price for the 16GB 3G S in MYR will be, 879 (10/11) * 3 = approximately RM2400

a neat RM900 per 16GB unit!

I booked one 32G with SingTel through my girlfriend's brother in early August. I've been checking with him every now and then but till now SingTel hasn't got enough stock. Then I booked another one with Maxis in mid August. It's been almost a month now and it looks like I still have to wait longer.  doh.gif
*
this ought to be sufficient to appease both whiners and moaners locally.

I took the 24 mths contract cause it makes no difference to me since I've already been a Maxis user for more than a decade!  I did ask them if they had a 48 mths contract hoping to get the iPhone much much cheaper tongue.gif
*
well so long that you are not tempted by the next generation iPhone, then you are definitely cool!

You can trade in old iPhone and get up to RM 1,200 in rebatesĀ  nod.gif
*
three points to observe here:

1. "up to" - hence chances are, you will be getting a better deal selling the previous iPhone over here in LYN

2. "RM1200" - is only applicable for this round and it may be different the subsequent generation.

3. maxis and other networks are not obliged to offer anything more i.e. offer you a deal to "upgrade" at a special price because you have signed a contract afterall. the contract is serving its sole purpose in the first place. you are at complete mercy/discretion of maxis. AT & T was an example when 3G S was launched.

Edoras: U sure? When was your booking and purchase? I had 2 frenz say cant, must get contract worr ...

well .... i think by opening the door to celcom and digi ... i believe Apple can generate more sales and revenue ... the question is ... why not?

Only Maxis has the import rights? Politics involved?
*
it is dependent on how the network negotiates the profit (in terms of sales/tariff percentage) with apple.

QUOTE(jssl @ Oct 2 2009, 11:30 PM)
@drgnkid
if i'm notmistaken, apple only offer the distribution to 1 Telco for each Country .... Sigh
*
in australia, there are five separate networks, which offer the iPhone to the public.
