my iPhone 3G S experience was extremely un-glamorised
went to optus store on the first day of launch. approached a personnel and conveyed my desires of wanting the white 3G S plan, 12 months on A$49 cap.
sales person photocopied my bank statement, passport et cetera and sign a few pieces of paper and passed me a brand new, unopened unit. the entire process of entering and exiting the store, took me less than 15 minutes (could be faster, if tinkerbel didn't bombard me with paranoid texts and phone calls
number ported from virgin mobile to optus under 30 minutes and when i got home, connect to iTunes via the usb cable. activated it and restored from backup and voila!
that's my mundane and less hyped up process of obtaining the 3G S
Added on July 11, 2009, 12:20 amextra: the process of purchasing the 4 outright and unlocked 3G S units from the chandstone apple store was the most time consuming to be honest.
with the amount of people flooding that tiny lot, and each of the iPhone has to swiped separately on the credit card, prolonging the entire process
