if called up by HR or your supervisor for exit interview just treat it like any other job interviewlor, if they asked you question that you don't want to answer just chalk up an excuse...

1. I need to go further study bla bla...

There's nothing to be afraid, but sometimes after working for a while we feel that we owe the company something if not to our colleagues.. maybe your boss also help u out alot...

u have to think also, you go to work to find money, no money equals stomach hungry..

the company won't take care of you for the rest of your life or until u die ... if got more money why not cabut?

think of it, prepare yourself before you go interview.

they can hold on to your letter forever, but the date on your letter is the effective date of your notice will continue to run say you tender on 1st Jan the Director hold your letter for one week, you still get to resign on the 31st Jan (assuming its a one month notice)

QUOTE(leanman @ Jul 9 2009, 09:02 AM)
a long chat cannot be avoided unless your boss really hates you...if he calls you in for a chat, likely it means he/she appreciate you and want to know why you want to leave and are you not happy working there. If the boss ignores you, means, in his/her heart.."thanks god, you are leaving"

its always good to send the resignation letter to HR and cc  to your immediate boss, not necessary the HOD. or even verbally tell your immediate boss first then follow up with a letter

tats not necessarily true for all exit interviews...

i had 2 exit interviews first with the ED and subsequently gang bang by ED & VP + 1 informal one over dinner with my immediate boss, does that count as EXTREMELY bad?

both the ED & VP were really nice ppl and we chatted for like 45mins

though my immediate boss was sometimes emotionally unstable (part of the reason i left), she took the courtesy to buy me dinner and tried to pursuade me to stay. (whilst over dinner, she was asking me took look at hot guys over the next table and give comments doh.gif )

Your not the first person i come across with a neg view on Exit interviews...

If a person is leaving, why does the management (or ur boss, director, CEO or whoever) want to take the time just to talk to you waste saliva just to persuade a person to stay- got other better things to do right?

There's no point for the Director to hold your Letter. Day in day out...it's counting down.

Let's put it this way, yu may say "Yu are seeking for greener pastures elsewhere".

Your balls kind of shrunk when yu engaged in an exit interview?

Regards, Joey
