Tried my best, guess it's just not meant to be .... sorry to dissapoint :-/
Turned out to be a pretty even group, virtually everyone in the group were strong, it was down to tactics and strategy.
First game was Estonia 3-4-1-2 (Possession). The fella is a unique one, uses this formation yet likes to play through middle with lightning Maxsim-like ground moves 80% of the time. Once I caught whiff of his style, straight changed to 4-1-2-1-2 to fight against him middle vs middle. Risky move, but I felt worth it, eventually nicked it 6-5... was an exciting match with much variety in the middle of the pitch on both sides, mixing up varied length of passes and lobs.
Second game was up against Trooll, the cunning Austrian guy first put 4-3-3 as his formation at the start to let me see, then straight change to 4-1-2-1-2 to fight against me. I had the first heading chance, it went just wide. Then came his, his hit the post >.<. Then the first goal .. came from his corner. Does the far-post walking in corner, but instead of just bringing it down/heading to receiver, he does a first-touch with his chest forward towards the near post, keeper comes out, scores. Never seen this corner before, was stunned for a while. Long QAs from two of his sweet spots were his main strategy against my 4-1-2-1-2. From these two spots he is able to control his crosses always for a 50% chance of scoring, he controls whether the cross is just nice (where if bringing keeper out will save), or cross just short (where if bringing keeper out will result in a goal). Now why didn't i use 3-4-1-2 against wing mover like this? This is coz at 1-3 down when i realised it will be too risky to keep on subjecting myself to these stupid QA crosses (I can't help my style of being defending minded >.<) , I switched to 3-4-1-2 in-game at about 60 minutes, but i looked at the screen, it became 4-4-2 for some reason! I wondered why, i checked again just to confirm, there it was, 3-4-1-2, then come back out same thing :-/ tried again the same thing happened.. so I had to play 4-4-2 the remainder of the match... arrrghh...what kind of Fifa network bug is this?? Coming at a time like this somemore. Then onwards I was a goner, muted in attack, and subjected to his barrages of QAs.. ended 2-5 :-/
Going into third game, had to quickly forget 2nd game's dissapointment, for i was facing the Korean no.2 next. As you guys may know, Korea was last year's champion and is no joke to play against. I refocused and fought his 4-1-2-1-2 with my own style of 4-1-2-1-2, switched to 3-4-1-2 for second half (this time during halftime). Was a good tight game between us, especially when I was using 4-1-2-1-2, He could score from any types of A or QA crosses, had to be extra alert to counter them with the keeper. Meanwhile, my attacks were more focused on the side vs him, and was causing him some headaches. 89th minute I had a huge chance on the wing to win it with Pires ready to launch a 'D' long ball, and Henry ready to receive it on the corner, he managed to slide and clip my Pires' leg from behind with his Pires... my resulting freekick was tame.. and so it ended 5-5. My verdict at this point was that the Austrian player was tougher.
Next came the teenage sensation from Spain, Delfin turned out to be a 4-3-3 user. He is talented ground passer in the mould of Maxsim. Thankfully, Maxsim and Chunky have given me plenty of practice vs. extreme kind of middle moves, so no problems vs. this fella. 6-3, goals coming mainly from long balls+low cross or long balls+A-cross. Davidman and Mkewell was spectating this game and supporting from the side ^^. Thanks guys.
(to be continued... Gotta stop here coz it's 4.48 a.m. and tomorrow morning need to continue to help Jali continue his drills. There's a big chance for a top-8 or even top-4 placing with his quarter of the draw, The brazilians ain't that good, one of them just won Mkewell by 3 goals to 2. I reckon even Chunky, Highwind are better than him. I'm gonna try my best to help Jali not to miss this opportunity. Ciao for now, will write more tomorrow)
