Hello Guys... long time din post
Can see a big hedgehog showdown between naruto and kandy lol....
Just wanna ask when the hedgie is Quilling at 8 weeks how long will it last??
And does the hedgie easily gets irritated while quilling??
because when i touch his back his spike all up and the body jump .. O_O
damn shock my hand flew almost break from my body zzzzzz
then i use a tissue to /very/ lightly touch his back also will hiss..
is it normal?? cause last time touch his back he wont move

And i noticed my hedgehog prefer RC over 8 in 1...
he will sniff out all the RC and make sure alll of them is cleared be4 touching the 8 in 1 only if hes still hungry... zzz picky
But he has to take a long time to break the 8 in 1 so sometimes i break it for him

REJECTED Chicken Parts.... ._. .....
and i thought it was one of the best because of the bigger price tag ...

Anyways.. if i stop using 8 in 1 , can i blend like RC 36 and RC 32 or have to use different brand like RC and Orijen example..

damn my 8 in 1 still alot zzz

If ur hedgehog already scratching quiet often... just put him on black newspaper and wait for him to scratch... after see white white stuffs take out and closely inspect... usually you str8 away can see clearly if moving or not when on black paper

Another technique i learn to check wether its mite/fleas or just quilling is collect all the quills and inspect under light... there should be a small "ball" at the tip / end .. i think thats the follicle or something...

Cause if no ball means its eaten and broken by the mites...

Seek vet if u really worried....

And to the guy who said the hedgehog keep poop on hand... maybe its because he feel stressed when u take him up then he poop...
its same theory like why hedgehog poop in bath and stuff... try to make ur hedgehog feel as comfortable as possible and see if he still poop anot..
thumbup.gif

@samsoong is it ur hedgehog whole body shake shake shake then got sneezing sound?? then after 5 minutes he sleep ? i dono why but my hedgehog like that...

White flakes that are NOT moving are dandruffs which is caused by dry / flaky skin? Im assuming the "shampoo" u using is too strong which may dry the skin or irritate it?? Dont get me wrong... But dry skin is usually cured by OatMeal bath... if u dont have the Earthbath oatmeal shampoo thing u can DIY actually ... but u must use unproccessed oatmeal and put in a clean sock/bag that got holes and swirl the oatmeal in the water till cloudy.... ive tried it and it has a slippery feeling... if the temperature is cold try to use warm water so the hedgehog feels comfortable and be ready to change the water many times since its going poop ALOT...

But how come u said the "mites" got blood? blink.gif i thought those are fleas which eat dog blood... if u see ur hedgie thin down then must faster bring vet le... Good luck notworthy.gif

Naruto How Old is your hedgie?

The oatmeal i think is those can reduce cholestrol like in those tv advertisement..
i dono i just have it in my kitchen... u can get them at supermarket ... buy a small pack and some can even use to feed the worms ...
But the easier and better solution is buy the shampoo (if u confirm its dry skin)

Yes like screaming but sounded more like fear than pain...
dono if hedgehog n human same lol ...
i think i was the one more fear than him . zzz .
when i heard so loud i jumped to his cage and i saw him just lying down belly facing the btm...

Normally i will test if his alright by taking one food and let him smell ... and just now he react normally... hopefully its just a nightmare...

I give my hedgehog filtered water... i just put the water in a water bottle and change the water in the water bowl when its dirty or havent finish... its easier this way...
the dirty water i jump dump all in the toilet bowl

Answer
1. Treats for hedgehog are important. They provide the needed nutrients and can act as a reward for your hedgehog. At first i thought my hedgehog dont really like worm... but when i start to feed him, u get to see how it goes berserk over worms... haha so cute. And worms are inexpensive and u can make ur own worm farm if u want... my bettle's eggs just hatched few days ago ^^

2. i would 101% say take it along with u... safe the worrying

3. lOl i hope not. i think it would be the other way round... ;D

4. hamster ball not recommended. The big wheel is the only thing my hedgehog can play and never get bored. Just that its the most expensive thing and needs cleaning everyday.

Feel free to correct me if i wrong.
