I need abit help from u80v users here, I put my win7 into hibernation, then I woke up the system, everything seems fine, but then I put the system to Sleep mode, and when I turn it back on, my u80v LCD failed to light up (i have tried pressing FN+F7 toggling the LCD but not working), the system is working fine as I still can see my win7 desktop under bright fluorescent light, the LCD backlit just won't light up, then I turn my system OFF, and turn ON few minutes later, LCD backlit is working FINE again. Edited: LogOFF user n LogIN back also the LCD backlit ll work again.

I m wondering whether it's a hardware issue in win7 (not such issue in Vista after hibernation>wakeup>sleep>wakeup.

I hope u80v users here can test test your win7 under such situation, meaning after waking up from hibernation> then Standby system > then On it back to see if the LCD backlit is working or not?

thanks in advance!

QUOTE(edwin1130 @ Jan 10 2010, 07:17 PM)
er guys , anyone here order/join the Windows® 7 Upgrade Program for asus laptop ?
i wonder if the single Window 7 upgrade DVD includes both 32- and 64-bit versions.
Because my laptop is using 4gb ram with vista 32bit right now , so im thinking to upgrade it to win7 64bit . Thanks for anyone that willing to clear my doubt  rclxub.gif
*
I received my win7 upgrade package weeks ago, got 1 win7 32-bit installer (Not 64-bit, as 32bit vista can only upgrade to 32bit win7) plus 1 asus driver dvd plus 1 win7 product key sticker. But I must say I very satisfied with the way asus compiled the installer n drivers in both dvds provided Because I can choose to

1) do a Full Clean Installation for win7 instead of an upgrade from vista.

2) The Clean Installation did not *delete* any of my Data (windows directory+program files directory+others) in my VistaOS partition, all the Data were copied to new folder in my C: drive (But that time My C: drive still having 80% free space laugh.gif ). Anyway, prior to that I already backup all my files.

3) The Asus DVD driver installer very user friendly, just tick/untick in the list of drivers + asus utilities in the installer Menu then Press a button everything ll be installed automatically without user intervention. Yea NO need to find each drivers 1 by 1 manually from the disk.

Anyway, I m using 4GB ram too, I dun mind only 3GB usable in 32-bit as I never use more than 2GB of ram laugh.gif

H all

I am intending to purchase an Asus Laptop.

I am using it for project purpose, which implies to designing software such as ProE, AutoCad, Ms Word etc etc.

Furthermore, this laptop will most probably be hardcore enough as i might going to use it for 24hrs for 3 to 4 days straight.

Well, and of coz, for some gaming (COD), entertainment (music and movie) as well

I do hope the laptop will be fast enough and not HOT as what i encountered from my previous one.

My budget will be around 3500 to 4000.

I hope you guys could give me some advices and suggestions..
Thanks in advance.

Terrible service from the Asus Royal Club at Imbi Plaza. Bought an n51vf in August at the PCfair. Had a problem with it (motherboard according to the worker) and sent it for repair on the 10th of February. Was told I would get it back around 2 weeks later. I called them 2 weeks later, and they told me they would get it back to me that week itself, or early next week. Now its the 4th of March, and after furiously calling them again and complaining, they told me that it would be fixed in the middle of March now. What should I do? :S
*
Seriously, I heard similar complaints over n over again with all other brand like HP,Compaq,Apple,Dell,Acer etc rclxub.gif ...

it's just Luck i suppose sweat.gif

Anyone who change their laptop's HDD to SSD?

my F8vr changed X25-M 80G SSD. And i found that the temp at HDD side (Left rest palm there) is hot than the time with HDD....

the SSD is more hot than HDD?
*
This guy faced similar heat issue with SSD and he managed to cool down the temp by cleaning the dust, yea seems unrelated directly to the SSD, but it worked. ( rolleyes.gif In theory SSD should be much cooler than a spinning Hdd.)

Details here http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-repli...fm/1377845.html

U may know more about ur new ssd using this programhttp://crystalmark.info/software/CrystalDiskInfo/index-e.html, then from there can see the Health Status of ur Intel SSD, how many percent of lifespan of is still Good under ID no. E9 value with attribute name: Media Wearout Indicator, and of course the Temp of SSD etc..

hope u find it useful. laugh.gif

http://asusbbs.zol.com.cn/detail.php?board...&only=zhengboyu

Summary:

GPU abit weak

3Dmark scored 4200, = entry level standard.

Devil May Cry 4 enabled all effects achieved 40fps no lagging.
"Need for Speed 13 : Shift" gpu abit struggling.
"DiRT2","Call of Duty" and"Battlefield: Bad Company 2" no problem at low resolution settings.

CPU performs well in Photoshop high reso image filtering.
Office 2007 when open 300MB powerpoint file only took 4seconds,
when open bigger CorelDraw file it performs alot faster than c2d 1.83ghz cpu.
The i5430 clock speed is 2.27 will Auto-overclock til 2.53ghz limit when needed, almost equiv to c2d 8700, i-series cpu performs better by 30% compared to similar clock speed c2d.

This notebook heat dissipation very good.
Under normal usage, watching 1024p avi or rmvb video, cpu usage 15%, HD mkv video 20%, cpu temp 33 - 43 celcius, gpu 47 celcius.

Multitasking performance is good, scanning virus and watching HD movies simultaneously cpu usage not more than 45%. Gaming not more than 70%. Video conversion will use more %. Til now never hit 100%.
