The Klipsch Palladium P-39F indeed surprised the reviewer smile.gif

Such beautiful speakers with outstanding performance thumbup.gif

Only for the deep pocket who is willing to spend (since loaded doesn't mean willing tongue.gif ). RRP : RM100,130 sweat.gif sweat.gif

But, if interested (since it would be the first in Malaysia), I can give 'attractive' discount.

Perhaps this is a good place to ask a question about which set of Klipsch I should buy from htkaki.

I am considering a Panasonic 42" Plasma. I do like the occasional music, but am not an audiophille. I play on my xbox360 online. I already have a WD HD TV player, which I use to play 720p and 1080p material.

I currently own a huge (but older) sony setup; but I will let this go since they are way to big. I was looking for something smaller, but still with a nice sounds. Since they eye likes the candy; the setup may look nice too smile.gif

Any suggestions? Should I simply go with the entry level system, Quintet III Satelite? Or will this be a waste of money? Perhaps that B2 or B3 setup?

Any suggestions would be welcome!

I was thinking about this and personally I'm wondering if it's worthwhile doing small upgrade like this within a speaker family.

Like RF52 and RF62, same driver family except that for RF62 the woofers are 1" larger. So I imagine the sound character is the same except that bigger woofer means little bit more bass. But do we really need that little bit more bass since we have the sub? Same reasoning applies if you consider T45, T55 and T65.

I'm thinking if want to upgrade must look at other sonic criteria (apart from bass) like better imaging or soundstaging, smoother treble, more dynamics, etc. So it means either moving to a different series under the same brand or change brand altogether.

What do you all think?

The comparison of driver size is not at a full stop, cabinet size contribute to the final sound as well. Signature would probably be the same, fuller body, sound staging, imaging and also dynamics will improve. That is if they are making them right in this case.

Well if the cabinet size can affect other areas then that's good. I just never thought if cabinet size alone can contribute to this.

Sure, that can be arranged.

It would be the top model of Klipsch Reference IV series; RF-83 breaching the 5 figures mark for a pair. Bro, just refer back to my PM on this brows.gif

Hi smile.gif

I am using the Sony STR-DB790...

And about budget, I do not want to spend more then RM3k on the set. I do however am looking for a stylish setup, but also with great sound.

Any Klipsch that suits me best? smile.gif

I think it's not how much louder the bass would be, but rather how full it'll sound (please correct me if it's wrong). If I'm not wrong, then it'll have more body and weight, it will normally sound bigger wrapping you with it's tune.
You should be able to get more depth and layering. I guess it's that way.

Htkaki, why not borrow a RF62 and make a shoot out? hehehe .. Remy u up for a demo and comparison? icon_idea.gif

I wasn't only referring to loudness but yes all those things you mentioned about fullness, body and weight, etc can happen. But my point is, is it better to upgrade the main speakers to get bigger woofer or upgrade the sub?

Even if we had a RF-62 to do shootout how do we know the difference we hear is caused by the bigger driver or the bigger cabinet? The only way to isolate the effect of just the cabinet size alone is to have same drivers and put into larger cabinet. Of course this cannot be done in the real world, so this is just me wondering aloud.

One thing I have read about bigger cabinets is that at least for the tweeter the cabinet area around it should be smaller to improve dispersion. That's why in some speakers the top section where the tweeter is located is tapered a bit narrower.

Borrowing RF62 might be difficult.

Anyway, we have got another Klipsch owner in da house, meta_slay. He bought Quintet III.

On another note, hoping that kiam can spare some time to take his RC-62 for a matching test with B&W

No, not exhibiting. I am only a small timer sweat.gif . Can't compare to those big guns like A7L, CMY, Perfect Hi-Fi , etc.

Hopefully with enough capital and a new brand under the belt, I might participate in next year KLIAV smile.gif .

Have you done the YPAO calibration? Another thing to check would be the internal test tones with a SPL Meter. Maybe the centre trim is set too low..

The problem is you should match the centre speakers with the L/R speakers. Else if it is not timbre matched, you will hear a difference due to tonal differences in the drivers/cabinet.

anfieldbro, done the YPAO calibrations.. have no idea how to do an internal test tone with the SPL Meter.. could it also be that the F1 series is entry level, so the centre speaker C1 is doing okay as an entry level product BUT may have some limitation?

i'm a noobie but the Klipsch F1 series came as a 5.1 speaker package, F1 for 2 front speakers, C1 for centre speaker, R1 for 2 rear speakers and sub12 for the 12" downfiring subwoofer.. i thought then that the C1 centre speakers are already matched with the L/R F1 front speakers.. please correct me if my understanding is wrong.. thx..

Then it shd be matched. I am not familiar with the Yammy and am unsure where the option is to increase the centre trim. Maybe a Yammy owner can help.

I'm running yammy with klipsch, but reading thru your post I'm uncertain what the problem is.

What's the level for the center compared to the fronts at this moment?
What happens if you increase the center level?
Could be just the tittle you're playing, perhaps try another.
SPL meter would solve this problem.

Seeing from klipsch forum is that even RT-12d is still lacking compared to SVS.
RW-12d isn't as expensive as SVS. So what's your view?

That's the classic price vs performance conundrum. How much are you willing to pay for increase in performance, bearing in mind also the law of diminishing returns. If you pay 50% more, will you get 50% more performance?

for the bros with the higher specs, can visit aa? i'll bring the drinks..

Thank god the 1800 shares, the same setup as the 1900

if you have done bro anfiel methods or using the auto YPAO setup, it shouldn't have a problem as the Klipsch is properly matched on tonal balances

but you can still tweak, if you cant hear minute tingy/tinky ambience, at default the yammy is set to natural
Refer to page 40 of your RX-V1800 and change to FLAT
Extract>>>> Hope this helps

Parametric equalizer type EQ

Parametric equalizer adjusts the level of the specified
frequency bands. This unit automatically selects the
crucial frequency bands for the listening room and
adjusts the level of the selected frequency bands to
create a cohesive sound field in the room. You can
select the type of the parametric equalizer adjustment
from the following choices.
Choices: NATURAL, FLAT, FRONT, SKIP
• Select “NATURAL” to average out the frequency
response of all speakers with higher frequencies
being less emphasized. Recommended if the FLAT
setting sounds a little harsh.

• Select “FLAT” to average the frequency response
of all speakers. Recommended if all of your
speakers are of similar quality.
• Select “FRONT” to adjust the frequency response
of each speaker in accordance with the sound of
your front speakers. Recommended if your front
speakers are of much higher quality than your other
speakers.
• Select “SKIP” to skip this item and perform no
adjustments.
