QUOTE(hamster9 @ Jun 23 2010, 12:27 PM) Worst than Dmax. 2.5 vs 3.0, it's not like having bigger cc means higher FC.Entering corner with 137ps by stepping on the pedal is ok ma.. I did that everytime in my 3.0 DMAX.. But make sure you got yourself a good pair of tyres before doing so, else u'll end up banging the walls |

QUOTE(am_eniey @ Jul 6 2010, 01:57 PM) Commonrail tuning kit for RM1800 is considered cheap as the market price for the item is around RM3000 Market price RM3000. Yup, that's the "market" price in Malaysia.Try import them yourself, could save u up to few k.. I bought myself a BMW commonrail tuning kit for 1.4k with Pipercross Air Filter, Interior mode switcher, MAF sensor, shipping from UK to MY. Maybe the price is cheap because i buy directly from the manufacturer? Power increment?? Definitely more torque than before. This post has been edited by victor87: Jul 6 2010, 04:40 PM |

Can ma... But must becareful (need 2 person to do this)
I use the jack to jack up the front tyres, and one person pulls the handbrake (to lock the rear wheels) while engaging gear... Tekan abit minyak see if the front wheel is moving or not, if it is, then the 4WD is working. Don't hit the accelerator too much if you don't want your 4wd to fly off. What 4WD are u driving? |

QUOTE(yeanshenlee @ Feb 26 2011, 08:18 PM) Hi guys, Fortuner 2.5(M) owner here~~ Like the other said, have u tried chipping the Fortuner yet?? Added on February 26, 2011, 8:29 pm Hi, you seriously can leave out the fortuner unless Malaysia bring in the 3.0 diesel version. currently driving the 2.5 fortuner everyday. The car FC is good, but when you travel through highway, climbing mountain and mild offroad you will actually wish that you need more power than what the car produce. QUOTE(nabelon @ Feb 26 2011, 09:41 PM) Hi, my dad is interested in buying a Navara Manual 4x4, any good/negative feedback on this vehicle ? When Navara first come to my mind, what i could think off is massive amount of horsepower and torque from this mothertrucker.Heard from some of the Navara owner, it tends to have commonrail problem.. Maybe the quality of diesel in Malaysia is not up to standard with the commonrail pump yet??? Navara with full loads is |

QUOTE(Mikahl @ Feb 27 2011, 04:45 PM) Hi guys/gals, Port Klang 4x4, well known dude for 4x4 equipment. Bought a canopy from him 8 years back then. Price is very very very expensive compare to others. Quality my ass, all of the equipment are from Thailand, so it's the same for me.I'm looking at buying a 4x4 pickup, kinda made up my mind to get the Hilux 3.0. As far as my research has taken me, the Hilux 3.0 seems to top the list of my options. Only 1 thing still holding me back: THEFT! (as well as Carjacking). I live KL PJ area and have tested the Lux 3.0 as well the Triton and Navara. I'd like to share some info based on my research and hopefully get some feedback in return. (Pls note that bcos I've never owned an SUV (currently drive Vios), my opinion may not be accurate or may be flawed, so pls dont hold me ransom on my views ya). Firstly, a little bit about WHY I choose a 4x4 pickup, HOW i intend to use it and WHERE I will be using it. I'm almost 40 and have always liked trucks or anything that grunts (i'm not gay). Between speed and torque, I'd go for torque. Anyways, I figured if I dont buy one now, in a few years time, I'd be unlikely to buy any cos my bones will start creaking n climbing 2 high wont b n option. I intend to use it mostly (98%) in the city, and 2% when I hit the gravels in KKB or Hulu Langat and the likes. I like to go overnight camping trips, away from the city about once or twice a year to smell the jungle n taste the rivers. The place where i work has some pretty narrow lanes whr my good Msian friends like to 'illegal' park due to lack of parking space (i dont blame them, i blame the developers and the local council for poor facilitation). Ok, (so cheong hei n still not get to the point yet)... ----- TEST DRIVE: Tested Triton about a year back: nice power, generally drives much like a car except higher, superb turning radius, good rear seats (relative to 4WDs). Only problem, looks kinda sissy with all those curves if you know what i mean. Navara - 2 weeks ago: Good power but hell of a noisy (bad sound insulation), ugliest interior I've ever seen in this day and age, sunglass holder on cockpit ceiling dropped as I drove, the quality of the interior is nowhere near the Hilux or Triton. The biggest turn off are the rear seats, that was the final nail in the coffin for me. Its so steep, u might as well use it as a trunk. And the 2WD/4WD is a little switch like an air cond switch on the dash console???!! Hilux 3.0 - 2 weeks ago: Good power, ugly ICE, a little short on space for accessories although if you really do a count, you'd find NINE cupholders inside the cockpit. Seriously, NINE!! Rims at 15"!! Ok, i can deal with 15", but with 0 offset?? That I cant deal with. Looks like chicken legs (for those who do bodybuilding, u guys get the picture right?) ----- ON THE NET RESEACH: For FORD Lovers, the good ol' Aussies have come out with the latest design for the Ranger, comes in 2.2 and 3.2 variants. Production starts this year, but not sure when it'll hit Malaysian shores. 2012 is my guess. Google 'Ford Ranger 2011' and you'll see what I mean when I say 'sexy'. I've been looking around at various forums and have not yet stumbled on one that has complete details on questions I needed answers from, e.g. when someone asks 'where's the best place to get 4WD parts?' Simple question, but never answered. Forumers will add irrelevant stuff into the thread until the question gets lost in mid air without any solid and reliable answer. So, bcos of that, I went to check out a few places: PHYSICAL SHOP HOPPING 1. 4WD shop in Sea Park PJ (few doors away from Corezone Adventure Shop). - got alarms, bull bars, bumpers, read hoods, lifting kit, body covers, etc. but range in the shop is not very large. 2. 4WD shop in Batu Caves (No 2, Jln SBC 4) - the boss name is Ivy. Better range in the shop than the Sea Park shop a little. Got front grille, lights, side rails, rims (but no tyres), bumpers, hoods, lights, suspension and lift kits. 3. Port Klang 4x4 (6330 Psrn Raja Muda Musa - from Federal Hwy, just go straight all the way). Boss is Mr S H Lim, nice man, owns a lot of 4x4, organises 4WD events and has won quite a number of challenges. I saw from some forum that he got 'cut throat price'. When I visited his store (really huge with stuff all over the factory-size shop), he admits his stuff is a 'little pricey but are of high quality'. I'm not sure if the quality is different, but I can swear the Hilux front grille that he quoted for RM900 looks kinda similar to the Batu Caves one at RM500. In terms of range of products, that I will say he wins hands down over the 2 shops above. Tyre Shop: I was looking at perhaps a 31 x 10.5 R15 Bridgestone Dueler AT694. When I was in Batu Caves, I hopped over across the highway from the Batu Caves 4WD shop and stumbled onto a 'Yu Leck Tyre & Auto Service'. This guy Ah Leong quoted me RM360 for each tyre. Not sure if that's a good price or not. The address is 7G Jln SM6, Sunway Batu Caves (03-6185 9912). Someone told me that there's a Tyre shop in Sri Gombak that sells good priced 4WD tyres as well but I dont have the address so if anyone has that, pls do let me know ya. WHAT I INTEND TO DO WITH MY HILUX: 1. Change Rim and Tyres: I'll be looking at 15 or 16 inch steel rims (I hope that's a good option) to fit a 31 x 10.5 AT tyres. (I was told this might be a problem for the Hilux if not raised). 2. Add a rear leaf spring softener (Batu Caves have them at around RM600) as the Lux rear is a little bumpy. 3. GPS tracking (around RM2500) - Cobra Connex (fr Cobra TTDI) or equivalent. 4. Pedal Lock - not sure if it's effective. 5. Bonnet Lock (Sea Park 4x4 has them for RM500) - not sure if it's effective. 6. Traditional 'Arm Switch' (RM50?) - some say this works, others say it doesn't. 7. Security Tint Film (around RM2000) 8. 'Coolmax' Seat Covers (RM700?) - the original is fabric and my rokok might make holes in those. 9. Round bar Sidestep (RM750)- the original flat rail is good, but aesthetics is important to me. 10. Front grille - change to horizontal lines (looks a little nicer). 11. Rear Utility Box - (Around RM900). Optional - Rear bumper to steel bumper (RM1500 - 2500) - I was told the ori ones will drop too easily. That's all for now. Comments/criticisms welcomed. Cheers. There's a reason why Toyota sells their Hilux with 15" rims, there's once they early batch Hilux using 16" and fail the safety test (Turn turtle when making tight cornering). There's a article talking about the issue, google them. Make sure you lower your Hilux if you really decided to play with bigger rims. I have no other reason to say Hilux 3.0 isn't a great truck, since they have upgraded from the 2.5 litres. By the way, you forget to add "Tuning Kit" into your must-do list. QUOTE(yngwie @ Feb 27 2011, 05:01 PM) due to expanding business, just got myself a used nov 2008 d-max 3.0 manual. quite satisfy with the outcome but still need further understanding of the engine / car behaviour. Yea man, the front brakes are really good... Just the rear brake aren't efficient enough.. Doing a braking job from 120km/h to 0km/h within 100 meter is hauling, overtaking and towing capability is just fine. but growing up with another ride of more than 500nm makes me just wonder if this bigger engine of d-max could reach the same amount of torque... loves the twinpot front brake but just wonder if there are workshops that offer a rear disc conversion. not sure if this d-max comes with lsp thou. 4JJ1 is capable of making more than 500NM of torque, of course, with heavy modification. Try search on youtube for DMAX drag in Thailand, which can smoke alot of modded petrol car out there. Stock turbo itself is better than other pickup trucks out there, but making anything higher than 1.5bar needs modification with the fins. People here mostly only seen the Monster Triton from Thai, but they never seen monster DMAX yet QUOTE(acbc @ Feb 27 2011, 08:46 PM) My bro is using it as daily ride. No problems so far. FC better than Triton MT or Hilux MT any time. Still lose to DMAX MT. However, power is highest among all 2.5L trucks. DMAX is overall balanced truck. Good FC without sacrificing the power. heheAdded on February 27, 2011, 8:51 pm U made the right choice here. QUOTE(jackyleo009 @ Feb 27 2011, 11:20 PM) What is the shop name? And which one can do better on alignment and balancing. Currently my car is floating when go through uneven road. Spent a lot on changing all those suspension parts absobers, lower arm, upper arm... etc. But still haven't fix the problem yet. Recently check my car deeply, found that maybe got accident before. So, is it possible that the car have accident before and make the wheel alignment not equal or balance? Hey bro, my Rexton also have the same problem lah.. Now absorber, all mounting bush, lower/upper arm all gone lah, now driving anything above 80km/h and it will jerk like hell. What's the year of your Rexton? QUOTE(SYAMiLLiON @ Feb 28 2011, 02:44 AM) can anybody help me...my uncle wanna to buy a 4x4...the main purpose is to bring crops such as durian and banana from his farm to town....the road quite hilly and slippery...also he would like to used as a main family transport for his family consisting spouse and 2 children...so back seat comfort also a concern here... Your uncle bring alot of Durian?? Why go for those old mechanical engine? Go for the commonrail lah, for sure he wont regret.. his budget is RM50k max and paid by cash...so currently we did a survey for used mitsubishi storm L200 2.5, ford ranger 2.5, mazda fighter 2.5 and hilux sr 2.5...which one is better deal ya???got any better choice than above list?? tq... Commonrail engine gives better FC compare to mechanical fuel pump ones, my previous Isuzu Rodeo gives around maximum 450km if drives constantly, for my DMAX if i drive constantly, can get around 8XXkm+. RM50k bayar downpayment or get a used ones lah... But don't go for the older model. Go for the latest Toyota Hilux, as the bed-room is bigger among the others, or get the Navara. Added on February 28, 2011, 6:28 pmSome cool video to share DMAX drag Damn kow-fast DMAX drag Super nice sounding DMAX drifting (sounds like a RB engine) Tarik kereta game vs Triton Round 2 Sorry, i'm biased This post has been edited by victor87: Feb 28 2011, 06:28 PM |

QUOTE(jackyleo009 @ Mar 1 2011, 07:20 PM) My problem haven't solved yet until today. The last thing I am going to change will be all four tires. Thats why I am asking here about tires. Between, can let me know what is the address for the tire shop that sell yokohama geolander for RM 305/each. Changing all those suspension part cost me around 2.5k. I am not using Geolanders tyres on the Rexton, so i couldn't help Your 2.5k including parts & labour? If it is, it was cheap. I can get the parts anytime, but have no time doing all the job alone.. QUOTE(azxel @ Mar 30 2011, 11:17 AM) Hi guys, I'm considering a compact SUV as a family car... any recommendations for one that's reasonably priced (not looking at those luxury ones at the moment) What's your budget range and requirement of the SUV?Japanese made, korean made, local made? How much are you willing to spend on the car maintenance alone? Turbodiesel or petrol powered? Does FC and power really matters to you? New or used? |

QUOTE(azxel @ Mar 30 2011, 08:05 PM) I would like something new within 200-300k range (Tiguan, XC60, X3 or Q5) but finance minister says only within RM150k range Wow, that's 200k ~ 300k for a SUV. Various of choice man !What are my options for both new or used? No preference on korean, japanese or local as long as reasonable ride and safe. No preference on Turbo Diesel or Petrol (though I'm quite keen on a Diesel to have better FC) I don't think that they are much to choose from, right? Thanks for all your feedback guys! Since your MoF approve only RM150k, try consider the new Hyundai Santa FE 2.2CRDi turbodiesel. Cheap roadtax, above average power available. Spacious and the latest design is Well, since Hyundai doesn't hold very good record in resale value, but i guess you wont be selling the SUV that fast? Go for turbodiesel for FC and power !! Petrol might be even more powerful, but higher fc plus you can't really feel the "ommmpppph" g-force pushing you to the seat while flooring it !! QUOTE(hkh_88 @ Mar 31 2011, 01:09 PM) So long time no come here liao haha. Anyone know where to buy Dmax snorkel? And those steel rear bumper too. Planning to do some bodylift later about 2.5".
