Just to correct

I spoke with developers of pwnagetool (those great iPhone developers). They said its not about files , its about baseband. 3G baseband supports MMS sending directly without the need of "connecting to MMS Server" first and sending. It takes a different approach

You're wrong on the 2nd part

3GS has different processor and graphics processor. Its a completely new revision of iPhone

iPhone1,1 - iPhone 2G
iPhone1,2 - iPhone 3G
iPhone2,1 - iPhone 3GS

Notice the major product revision has changed. This is to indicate that apple has done major changes in hardware. If it was the same , mainboard and most of the stuff i.e RAM , CPU , graphics processor would be the same

If its on EDGE/GPRS - expect it to be around 30 seconds to 50 seconds (at most a minute or two)

If its on 3G - its around 15-20 seconds

Question : Does MMS require GPRS/EDGE/3G?
*
Obviously it needs EDGE/GPRS. It needs some sort of internet connection in other words !

MMS is generally e-mail on the go for mobile phones biggrin.gif (whereby you're allowed to attach files)
