Not sure if this is the correct thread to ask.
Is it worth getting the Alpha 230 if the price difference is only RM150? |

QUOTE(achew @ Jul 15 2009, 01:46 AM) try out see whether u like the feel when u hold it in your hand..i tried holding 330/380..dont really like it..lol Apart from the feel, there is nothing much the difference?I tried the A330 and I kind of like it. Anyway, I never try a A200 or A300 before. The kit lens isn't the same. Which I assume the new one better than the old. |

QUOTE(kming @ Jul 15 2009, 02:01 AM) Apart from the feel, there is nothing much the difference? to me..the body is almost the same...so go for whichever u feel comfortable in ur hand...kitlens wise.. perhaps im not the best guy here to answer ur question..lol...nv tried the new one b4..and the old one only used for less than 100shots when i got my camera..I tried the A330 and I kind of like it. Anyway, I never try a A200 or A300 before. The kit lens isn't the same. Which I assume the new one better than the old. |

the new a230/330/380 have lower feature than the outgoing a200/300/350
it is missing a few function No AEL, to select AF point you cannot do it with the direction pad, white balance is missing kelvin adjustment etc. however you do get the new pink and brown menu! Somehow i felt the older model is more solid and better ergonomics. the new grip is too small for my liking. the cheap looking mode dial, the p&s top plastic, the p&s shutter and power dial ..... OMG is it a cybershot? also the new camera do not take the old VG & Batt (way to go sony). but you do get the new kit lens. |

QUOTE(Kul | Mo0 @ Jul 15 2009, 10:29 AM) yup. sony is kinda going backwards on the new a230/330/380. the whole point of getting a dslr is for speed, quality and ability to expand your creativity. sony badly needs the a500 & new a700 to bridge the gap to a900. there are rumours of 2 new full frame in the horizon from sony but that is still speculative and for semi-pro up not really for the masses. |

The only Plus point I would say is the auto white balance look like has improved and the noise level has reduced by quite a lot (im comparing to my A100... it is missing a few function No AEL, to select AF point you cannot do it with the direction pad, white balance is missing kelvin adjustment etc. however you do get the new pink and brown menu! QUOTE(andymillenium @ Jul 15 2009, 10:08 AM) I don't beat myself up to look at EXIF's and treat them as the ultimate guide thus I don't really even look at my own EXIFs! But here is what I do when taking landscapes:1. I set ISO to 100 or whatever the base ISO your camera has to get the max dynamic range. 2. I set the cam to A mode and set the lens to F8 or any number that your lens needs to get sharp pics. 3. I set DR+ for my A100. 4. I set metering to matrix. 5. I set creative style to Landscape And then I shoot and adjust as necessary. The pano pic : 1. I shot 3 pics, from bottom to top (or left to right depending). The more shots the longer the pano.. 2. Ensure that you have plenty of overlapping in all your pics. In mine I used the distant landmass as one point of overlap and the orange part of the clouds as the second point of overlap. 3. I use Photoshop to merge the pics and choose 'auto'. Photoshop does all the work and give me a final pic. 4. I crop as necessary as your pic will not be 100% straight but you get rid of the uneven edges and you will have you final pic. 5. PP as necessary and voila! The bottom pic : Heavy PP done! Colours are all adjusted to make it look like that. There's also one thing that I did to make the picture turn out like it did (don't mind the colours lar). Can you guess what I did? Look at the pic and see if you can tell. Clue: It's a Sony thing! |
