 Canon MP160, scanning problem

need help here on my canon mp160. i need to scan this document but i also need to save it on the pc..but all it does is scan and print out another copy of it..and when i click save to pc..

it tells me this

Cannot communicate with scanner.
Cable may be disconnected or scanner may be turned off.Check status.
Scanner driver will be closed.

reboot pc. replug in usb cable.

why dont u try to reinstall the driver n software.. it hepls most of the time..

i did a quick google search on your error code and this is what i found

perhaps you just need to play with the cable abit..

have you tried restarting the pc yet? restarting does wonders on microsoft pcs..

scanning part is controlled by mp navigator software.. so i would still recommend reinstalling as canon release the brand new version. ver 3 compare to oem ver 2 only.

n u know wad.. the troubleshooting part is damn dumb 1..

reinstall the printer driver. Important --> Make sure the printer is offline (power off or disconnected from pc) during installation.

use double shielded (DS) with aluminium usb cable.this may solve ur prob

I can't even recall how long does this XXX Canon MP160 scanner problem bothers me. And guess what? I have just tried switching between the USB ports and the scanner works! Don't bother to spend $$ to get new cable, it seems to be the USB port issue.

USB port do affect da scanning?? So far, i m usin the same printer bt wif a lousy cable(a usb cable from hp deskjet 3420) bt nth seem to hv prob. All function works well. Ts, do u hv da latest driver install??? N wat is ur OS version??
