Well there is. Very little in term of micro or miliamps depending on the design. Another area that most don't bother to turn off is the bipole switch for water heater or aircond. If the red light is on, current is still flowing.as what you mentioned, you just plug it out without turning it off, I don't think its consuming any electricity as there is no flowing of electricity is taking place...my opinion
