I'm planning to get effect pedals but I'm confused with overdrive pedals and distortion pedals. rclxub.gif
What are the differences actually? And also the BOSS OS pedals and OD pedals.
Sorry, first time getting an effect pedal, so I don't really know much smile.gif
Any advices or suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Overdrive is a milder sort of distortion, clips the signal slightly at the edge. Think, classic rock, blues.
Distortion clips the signal harder, giving you a harsher sound. ie. nirvana, STP.

They colour your guitar sound different and is used for different kinds of music.

There is a very clear explanation of the distortion grid at Boss' website.
Check it out at www.bossus.com, you will have a pretty good idea of how rough/smooth & metalic/natural those pedals could be. Check out each of their sound samples too. Then, decide which one to buy smile.gif

If you are not the typical metal freak / head-banger that requires your tone to be so distorted to the point just short of complete meltdown, the Boss OD or DS pedals should serve you fine. Else, you will need to consider the MT or MD pedals...

Thanks erictham. I'm still considering whether which pedal to get. Other then BOSS pedals, are there any other pedals that wouldn't be too expensive and could serve well? I've considered getting a multi effect too. But would it be costly? My budget is around 500rm. But if that certain multi effect pedal is worth the price, I might consider going for it. I've read it on BOSS site, just wanna know the any good pedal users' opinions here. laugh.gif
