Update guys: for those of you who opted to collect at Machines @ 1 Utama, it's not possible to place your RM200 deposit yet, coz Maxis never informed Machines on the iPhone3GS launch and even the branch manager don't know what to do tongue.gif

Guess I have to wait until they sort this out. Either that, or go straight to a Maxis owned (not licensed) outlet...

i just booked mine - 32GB White, iValue Plan 12 months (since I'm gonna be a port-in customer, not eligible for 24 mths!) and gonna be able to collect it by 31st July (another 15 days!!)

some says that its expensive but compared to previous launch, i think this time around maxis is doing better.

anyway, i'm trying to convince myself that it's worth it coz i'm sooo wanna get my hand on iPhone3GS (even more since i just got my mbp13!)

so here's how i see it (someone agree with me pls?)

currently i'm on digi prepaid, cost me only RM30 per mth (1 year = RM360).

jumping on maxis iValue Plan 1 for 12 months, i'll need to fork out RM100 per mth (1 year = RM1200).

over a year, digi prepaid vs maxis postpaid = RM840

based on the plan, i'm getting RM700 discount for the phone. so i'm actually paying additional RM140 only (RM840 - RM700 discount).

so, if i dun like maxis at the end of the 12th month, i can walked away (perhaps back to digi?) and actually paid RM140 more only?

ok.. i'm  rclxub.gif myself but i guess i just wanna get my hand on it!

woohoo!

Unfortunately, iValue plans commitment fee (e.g. RM100 per month) does not include anything else than voice and data. Which means, by the time the bill comes, surely its more than RM100. Conservatively, you are looking at RM120. SMS, MMS and other chargeables are not included in the commitment fee. Hope you don't get a sticker shock when your first bill arrives...

That's why I am sticking to my Value Plan 50 and adding iData RM50...

p/s Forgot to mention that Value Plan 50 = 12 sens/min. iValue 100 = 15 sens/min.

OMG I booked mine there. Hopefully by the 31st we would get a clarification on this.
*
But you you plan to pay your RM200 booking fee? The latest you have is 5 days from now... According to the FAQ:

2) When should I pay? Do you accept credit card/cash/cheque?
Please make your payment within five (5) days from your booking submission
date or by 24th July 2009, whichever is earlier. We only accept cash or credit
card.

Yeap it is five days from now which mean I will need to pay mine by the 20th as stated in the SMS.

Hopefully Machines will sort it out with Maxis by then smile.gif Because when I was there during lunch, the senior there (Chris, i think) was apologetic and said that Maxis blindsided them - they said even they take my RM200 they would not know what to do with it - since there is no system to keep track... tongue.gif

hmm, anybody using a supp line manage to pre-book for iData plan?

i'm using a supp line, value plus family 30 (eligible for iData according to website), and tried pre-booking for iData, but when it comes to step 3, i cannot select iData. only the prepaid option is available.

i selected "No" for the question "would you like to upgrade to Maxis principle post paid line?" since i want to remain as supp line. when No is selected only prepaid option is available. only when Yes is selected, then iValue and Prepaid opens up. iData remains close all the while.

Frustrating vmad.gif

Anybody else having the same problem?
*
It's expected, since the iPhone booking is only available for Principle Postpaid account holder only. The FAQ says:

3) I am an existing Maxis mobile customer. Can I book?
Yes, but only if you are a Maxis postpaid principal line subscriber.
Supplementary line subscribers, please request your principal line subscriber
to book on your behalf.

4) I am a Hotlink user. Can I book an iPhone 3G S?
Yes, you can.

guys, i need help. i'm still dont know about the policy or wadever s*** thing about maxis.

1)i wanted to get the i3gs white. and i was thinking to ask my fren (which is using sup line family plan 50) to buy for me, which is under iData plan. so it means, i need to pay for original RM50 (for the family plan 50) and also iData2's RM50 = RM100/month? or i just need to pay only the iData's RM50 OR only the family plan 50's RM50? sorry if i'm confusing.

2)i wanted to book for the i3gs under iData but cannot. wonder why? if i book under my name, my number, my nric, and PREPAID PLAN, when the day i wanna collect the phone, can i bring my fren along which is using the family plan 50 sup line along and change to iData and buy for me under 1yr contract @ RM2090?

3)if i buy it under PREPAID PLAN at Machines KLCC (RM2490), can i also use the membership card to had some additional points? or the membership card is unavailable for iPhone purchase?
hope all the sifu or person which know well about this maxis pricing thinggie well help out abit. my brain is not for maths counting xD

1) if you choose the Value Plan route, then yes, u need to pay Value Plan RM50+iData RM50=RM100.

2) Only Principle Postpaid holder can book for iValue or iData.

3) I asked Machines@1U before, they said iPhone is exception, and cannot offer any rebates or points. But they proposed a "RM 50 voucher" but that was last month. You can try else where, your millage may vary.

Eh? No such thing la. According to FAQ:

1) When can I collect the iPhone 3G S?
Your iPhone 3G S can be collected on 31st July 2009 from the designated
Maxis centre or MEP outlet which you have paid the deposit to.

hi, i'm addicted to iphone design and it's gorgeous, i'm interested to purchase the 32gb iphone 3gs through the prepaid plans but yet i intend to keep my existing digi line

The terms mentioned in the FAQ in http://www.maxis.com.my/iphone3gs/FAQ.pdf is kinda worrisome...
i'm totally clueles, so what are the potential problems that i might face by doing so?
(1) unable to access appstore?
(2) phone might not function as normal?

i plan to sign up for digi's unlimited data plan when i got the iphone, anyone can comment on this?
*
Ha - it's FUD (fear, uncertainty and doubt) from Maxis la. Basically the iPhone is an unlocked phone, just like any phone you buy from the street in Malaysia. Only diff is that, the iPhone is preconfigured with settings to go online with iPhone (WAP settings), and they did not load other operator's settings into the iPhone (e.g. Celcom, DiGi).

The workaround is very easy, you can always enter those settings manually. Hope this helps.

A few people have asked about using multiple SIM card with the same account with Maxis. Actually Maxis does not advertise this actively but it is possible.

http://www.apple.com/asia/support/products...careiphone.html

Currently available for SG HK NZ AU.

You can even order the ACPP for iPhone via their respective Apple Online Stores...

I just paid my RM200 at Machines @ 1U. Got some bad news for you folks. According to Kean (or Kin?), they can no longer guarantee whether there will be enough iPhone for everyone who paid RM200, since the demand is too high. According to him, 1U branch alone has about 70 booking (as of lunch today) and response on all the other Machine branches have been overwhelming too. I asked him if I camp outside Machines@1U during 31st, would it help? He said, might not help at all, because they might follow the booking order - i.e. order of who paid the RM200 first with them. So my advise of now is to shy away from Machines and go to true blue Maxis Centers to book yours (e.g. Maxis TTDI, Maxis KLCC), IMHO.

Say, for those who have booked at Machines, do you guys get to claim points when you purchase the phone from them? tongue.gif

Oh yea, I forgot to update everyone on this. I asked Machines @ 1U about that and they said that for the previous iPhone 3G, they offered RM20 rebate into the membership program, but for this time around for iPhone 3GS, he cannot promise. He said no direction from HQ yet, so there is a possibility that there is nothing at all, since iPhone is not like any other Apple product, where the distributorship is not owned by Machines but by Maxis.

I thought the Maxis online booking will restrict the number of people booking each time slot at each outlet? If that restriction is in place, then Maxis & Machines should have sufficient stocks for each time slot.
Unless of course there are people who booked the collection date as 1st Aug but decide to collect on 31st July - would Maxis or Machines entertain such people? Hopefully not otherwise there'll be mad rush of first come first serve on 31st July and this will also defeat the purpose of choosing your date, time and venue of collection when booking.
I asked Kean the same question too - and he said it's probably will be Maxis's fault of unable to allocate sufficient phone. But that's his word against Maxis's. He said that Machines management have instructed him to tell us the caveat to avoid disappointment on coming 31st.

I will be very disappointed if the system goes that way. It means money is their concern. I think it would be more fair if the queue is run by serial number. Whether you pay first or not, as long as you book first then you are in the queue. Guess we will never know how it goes until the 31st sigh  sad.gif
Bro, I totally agree. But he was being very vague and they are probably going to fly blind on this one and figure it out on the 31st too. Anyway, I am packing my sleeping bags and ready to play hide and seek with the shopping mall security guards for good measure whistling.gif

I paid the RM200 just now at Machines Garden.
My friend advise me to go Maxis coz they more clear about the plan and can be explain again plus Maxis should get more stock in than Machines.
But the Maxis girl ask me to go Machines to ask they can accept deposit or not first,
if can't only go back to them.
Machines also told me they might not get the stock on 31st/7
Anyway...just wait and see.
*
Seems like the story from Machines is consistent now, they cannot promise stock if Maxis does not allocate enough for them, therefore the staff are told to advice the customer that they might not be able to get it on the 31st as preemptive measure - just in case we all mob them when we are turned away tongue.gif

According to Machines@1U, it all depends whether Maxis will supply them with enough stock or not, which for some reason, the Machines ppl are not very convinced they will.

So short answer is, we'll know in 2 weeks time smile.gif

Just came back from MACHINES@1U. Paid my RM200 deposit cash and receive an official receipt. Did not bother to ask much but everything went well which cost less than 10 minutes.

What I do is just past him my email print out and fill in a form that he gave. If you guys are wondering why choose MACHINES, I can give you two good reason.

First of all you are entitle to be a member of MACHINES for free just because you buy the iPhone from them. Secondly you will get RM20 voucher upon purchasing. Wow no harm at all more over they have bunch of accessories and other Apple product.
*
Don't mean to blow your bubble, but this time around for the iPhone 3GS, no one from Machines can promise they can give the RM20 rebate yet. They did offer the RM20 rebate for the iPhone 3G but for this time around, they said no promises. If you got the news other wise, please tell me which Machines staff told you so, as I want my RM20 too smile.gif

You would have to wait after the booking period is over, which is one week after 31st July (I think). Even after that, it would heavily depend on the stock availability. As an reference, after the iPhone 3G launch, there was a stock vacuum for about 2 weeks. And since this time around, it's worldwide launch, and there are LOTs more interest for the 3GS than the 3G, who knows how long need to wait for new stock..

New Maxis Data Plan - not iPhone specific. http://www.maxis.com.my/personal/broadband...less_volume.asp

It's RM58 (if you use Direct Debit) and 2GB/month. Not bad - I'll probably get this after my 12 month iData contract is up. Comparatively,

iData = 0.5GB = RM50/mth
new data plan = 2GB = RM58/mth
