planning to go for the sound bar (due to it simple set up), but want to get any one view or experience, opinion on the Yamaha YSP-4000. It is good for living hall (medium size, with furniture)?

To get proper surround sound for this bar u need a a room with 4 walls or else the sound can't be reflected back to u n it will only be an expensive front sounding bar. I auditioned this before at Harvey Norman and its quite impressive in a small closed room (I think about 10' x 10'). The reflected surround sound can be easily distinguished from the sound that coming from the front. A sub is a must coz this bar hardly has any bass at all. If ur living room only has 3 walls (as most living room does) then forget about this. For the price u can get better home theater with separate speakers and av amp.

I did audition at Harvey Norman, Bukit Tinggi. The room is quite small, congested with all type of audio equipments and tvs. And it sound quite good, can even feel the sound from different direction.

I don't own one but my uncle does.. He couples it with an SVS coffee table type sub and we watched shooter.. I must say it's quite impressive. He didn't have a dedicated room, just in the living room. Guess my point is if coupled with a great sub, it's still good.

Using it. Quite good just that my hall very big so the effect is not that much. Still tunning it to get the best effect...

I auditioned this at Harvey Norman Ikano and found it to be quite impressive too. Since I don't usually turn up the volume and wanting something simple for my new set up with HDMI connectivity without the messy wiring for my living room, I actually went for the YSP-3000.

Setting up was a breeze. Just hookup the accompanying "microphone" and position it at the centre point where you will sit and hit "Auto setup" on the remote. The unit will go through a routine to determine how to "beam" the sound projectors around your room for optimum effect. You could fine tune the setting too but alas, I have not gotten round to doing that as I am quite happy with how the autosetup has configured my unit

most of the review i read quoted this sound bar best in a square room. I wonder if glass panel door with curtain can give good sound reflection or not?

me to still looking for that answer. had talk to a salesman at hometheater shop in penang, he said a glass panel door sound reflection is really good.

glass panel without curtain is good. but curtain (cloth) can absorb sound

like to find out what is the price like yamaha YSP-4000 and 3000.

At Harvey Norman, list price for YSP-4000 is RM4,999 with S/woofer. Cant recall exactly but I think the YSP-3000 is RM3,899 with S/woofer.

aint cheap also .... but alot ppl like it cos very clean setup

Ya really clean set-up. Beware there is some bug in this model. Ha ha ha. Sometimes it cannot detect the 5.1input so have to off it and on it back.

but the only thing is the wire and setting up...

Yes, my only reason for getting one is because of the clean setup

You may wanna do manual setup then, more accurate go give more strength in beam towards curtains
