absobers got cheap and good brands .. u can check out the automotive garage sales forum ... if low on budget maybe u can get some 2nd hand abs .. but make sure its fully functional without any sound .. for installation it will waries so better check with shop ..
CAI hose is up to u one la .. just the CAI cost around 45 to 100 bucks .. installation also waries from 10 to 30 .. check the automotive sales also for better estimation ... cheers

yea ..currently cheapest is cata's CAI .. 2.5 diameter and 2 meter long ...
its for air channeling so no need so rigid material one la ... simple hose will do, flexible so that it is able to make a U or S or W or watever shape to prevent water going into ur air filter ...
U can try DIY ... not that hard la but still hard ...

i don think he should go for open pod, coz his car is auto le ...
i would suggest a full overhaul since its 1999 ...
exhaust system, drop-in air filter, throw away spare tire, lighten crank pulley would do much of the trick ..
