not trying to bash anyone. just personal thoughts...
given a purely imaginary sequence whr.
-rhinos are hunted by humans over a long period.
-threat to rhinos.
-rhinos dwindle in number.
-in the mean time, mutation occurs continuously
-by chance, by luck, a baby rhino has mutated a slight pattern on their skin, that better camouflages them in their environment
-that baby rhino hav higher chances to survive by not being caught, note, higher chance, not definite
-that baby rhino grows up, haves offspring, chances of passing down genes that give that specific trait increases, note, chances.
-off springs of that rhino survives(higher chance, but may die, hence ending that sequence of mutation, but does not mean that is the ONLY mutation going on)
-after long periods... two distinct population, one rhinos without camouflage patterns, one with them.
-we humans then perceive, we just discovered a completely new specie!!
und?
it is totally logical.
therefore, I support the evolution theory. only in modern times, OUR evolution has been more guided by our own artificial environments and requirements...
note, it does not mean we STOPPED evolution... merely, the guidance of natural selection now has been overshadowed by human selection... but natural selection stil takes place.
cybernetic humans? to me.. can be considered as an evolution.. by human selection..
Sorry, your example not logical to me, evolution in natural selection take place over a very long period of time and accumulate bit by bit over thousands / millions of years. If camouflage or defense mechanism is needed, it will develop gradually much like invention, new replaces the old in biological way. Why is there a need of a particular species? They are all products of mutation and those that survive are the fittest but not permanent.given a purely imaginary sequence whr.

People have evolved with various feature differences to accommodate with the environment is a clear sign of mutation but genetic identify us as the same kind, if we are made deliberately, we would have been different kind and chimpanzee has slightly more gene code than human but look so different. In science term the way I understand it, we are the best combination in natural selection or the most advanced in brain development but week in physical strength compared to other animals.
Our intelligence gave us the power to manipulate natural selection and anything we do is part of evolution even if it is destructive just like cancer.
