Dell's Higher Standard

Dell's success is built on a foundation of personal and professional integrity. We hold ourselves to standards of ethical behavior that go well beyond legal minimums. We never compromise these standards and we will never ask any member of the Dell team to do so either. We owe this to our customers, suppliers, shareholders and other stakeholders. And we owe it to ourselves because success without integrity is essentially meaningless.

Our higher standard is at the heart of what we know as the "Soul of Dell" - the statement of the values and beliefs which define our shared global culture. This culture of performance with integrity unites us as a company that understands and adheres to our company values and to the laws of the countries in which we do business. Just as the Soul of Dell articulates our values and beliefs, the following Code of Conduct provides guidance to ensure we meet our higher standard and conduct business the Dell Way - the right way, which is "Winning with Integrity." Simply put, we want all members of our team, along with our shareholders, customers, suppliers and other stakeholders, to understand that they can believe what we say and trust what we do.(Ya, they commit but never keep their word. How to trust them? Our higher standard includes several key characteristics that both underpin the Soul of Dell and provide the foundation for our Code of Conduct:

•Trust - Our word is good. We keep our commitments to each other and to our stakeholders.
•Integrity - We do the right thing without compromise. We avoid even the appearance of impropriety.
•Honesty - What we say is true and forthcoming - not just technically correct. We are open and transparent in our communications with each other and about business performance.
•Judgment - We think before we act and consider the consequences of our actions.
•Respect -We treat people with dignity and value their contributions. We maintain fairness in all relationships.
•Courage - We speak up for what is right. We report wrongdoing when we see it.
•Responsibility - We accept the consequences of our actions. We admit our mistakes and quickly correct them. We do not retaliate against those who report violations of law or policy.(Ya ya.. they admit, but they never take up their responsibility!)

It is not a mistake, it is advertised as limited units but I think they overshoot the order taking. Means too much order, not enough stock to supply.
*
They shouldn't overcommit in the first place. Dell greedy, then they had to pay the consequences.

Do U guy notice Dell recently act very bossy and arrogant toward end consumer like us? Like we own DELL something while in reality, we are customer. We take out money and pay because we thing the item worth buying.

I'm pretty sure the domestic trade n consumer affairs ministry will look this up if u all bring it to their attention. It's 1 of the few really efficient Gov departments arround. It's really easy, just go to the office, fill up a form and they will investigate.

Yes..I am actually building up the case. Collecting any communication proof, recorded down event chronicles. Going to complain to tribunal For Consumer Claims.

*

If their unit is limited, they shouldn't even allow us to proceed with the ordering process. For example a few weeks ago they have this midnight sale for Dell netbook and laptop, limited to first 8 units if i am not mistaken. After all the 8 units have been taken up, the rest of us cannot even place our order. For this case is different, imagine those who place order and TT in the money to DELL already.
*
If consumer had paid and got a confirmation order. That mean in already engage in Contract of Sale. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Contract_of_sale

It Dell didnt honor, they are violating the contract. They might get away with their well protector T&C but keeping a tree and losing a whole Forest or win a Battle but lose a War is not really a wise move. Especially in this highly competive world. Trust and reputation is as important as price.

That is why we need to voice out that Dell this kind of sale practice is not acceptable by us, end consumer

the thing is, dell CS and their boss treat us all as rubbish. Look at the mess they create, people buy in bulk then resale in Lowyat.net. Easy profiteering at the expense of us naive people. Same goes to the Dell Mini 9 issue. One time is too much already.

If this was in USA, they would have their pants sued off so bad. I am collecting as much people here and emailing them to each bigshot in Dell. Just don't think us Malaysians are easy to please and be ripped off with. It sucks that Dell aims to be number 1 in sales, but their lousy customer service means that, they better think twice then
*
Exactly.
DELL customer support are so arrogant now. I experience 1 time I called DELL about why my order cant sent through.
The Biatch just say after 8 units no more already. The Biatch didnt even say a single sorry to me. After she say that and let me talking at the other end. She just keep quiet. I asked her why keep quiet. She didnt answer. I hold the line for like 10 mins.
The Biatch still keep quiet. She like playing wear me off kinda of tactic. Really piss off with her response vmad.gif vmad.gif mad.gif

Would like to give my opinion too...as even though if there is "an offer" from dell and had already been "accepted" by the consumer..but if there is still no "consideration" ,such like payment, we cannot assume that the contract had already been made..and one more thing, most of the advertisement is normally protected by its "exclusion clause"...just my 2 cent...
*
Some forumer actually pay full amount. So Contract of Sale already engaged. Didnt honor it mean breach of contract
Also, in first place DELL should not mislead consumer with their promotion/offer.
According to Consumer Act 1995. Click here. Beware Wall of text!
Under Section 9 : Misleading Conduct
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Section 12 : Misleading Indication As To Price
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

So in the case, DELL clearly violate the above mention sections.

LIke I said earlier, if DELL continue use suck gimmick sale tactic. Consumer will lost confident on DELL.
DELL put up a nice written Code of Conduct "Winning with Integrity" ?? If they dont honor what they say or advertise. Will we, the consumer believe DELL had Integrity? I really dont think so.

Serve U right Dell or Hell!

Move Over Dell, Acer is Knocking at the Door

HP and Dell have enjoyed the No. 1 and No. 2 spot in computer sales globally for a while. Dell’s recent concentration on the consumer market is an acknowledgment that consumers now buy more computers than businesses, a phenomenon that is worldwide. Dell may soon be losing its No. 2 spot to Taiwanese company Acer, which is likely going to surpass Dell this year in sales.

Serve Dell (or HELL) Right!

After a second run in with low, low, low prices on particular products at Dell Taiwan, Dell has shut down that country's online store until it can sort things out. Apparently this time it was the Latitude E4300 which would go haywire with particular CPU configurations. Dell is offering a 20,000 NT (about $600 US) discount to those who ordered the mis-priced PC, but apparently that only just matches the regular street price in Taiwan for the computer so people are naturally up in arms. We're not sure what they're so grumpy about: sounds like a paradise on earth to us.

Serve Dell Right!

Dell fined $30,000 by Taiwan government over pricing mishaps

Let this be a lesson for all you kids thinking about opening some online shop with a funky database: pricing errors can cost ya, especially if you're doing business in Taiwan. After a couple of downright embarrassing slip-ups on Dell's Taiwanese web store, followed by a failure to compensate those who got orders in appropriately, Taiwan's government has levied a NT$1,000,000 fine (that's just over 30 grand in Greenbacks) on the computer giant. The actual details of the penalty are somewhat vague, but it seems as if the fine will be imposed until Dell decides to "take consumer rights seriously." In other words, Dell's stuck paying up unless it flips a 180 real quick and honors the flood of purchases made at rock-bottom prices. C'mon Dell, do the right thing. Or write the check -- evidently it's totally your call.
