Not necessarily depending on how experienced a person is in taking care of a newborn kitten. However, the first 2-3 weeks of a newborn kitten is the most critical phase and best taken care by the mother itself as this is the time where they are very fragile and dies easily due to sickness. Even a first timer inexperienced mother couldn't handle their kittens properly sometimes and resulted in their death. After that it should be fine.

The weird thing is, where is the other kitten? And for the 3-4 days, do u mean they have been "appearing" at day and "dissapearing" at night?

p/s - speaking from almost 20 years experience as stray cats lover tongue.gif correct me if i'm wrong.

the back lorong is really dark and I couldn't find them the last time around. I thought they "disappeared" into the house at night. As in the neighbor lady brought them into the house. But I was mistaken when I checked today. The kitten has actually been outside all this while. Stacked under a small (doorless) cupboard along with other stuffs.

The person who did this must be really irresponsible. I think whoever doing this just wanted to get rid of the kittens, if i were the person, i would at least feed them until at least 1-2 months old, then release them onto the lorong while keeping an eye on them everyday to feed them until they get used to stray cats live slowly. Then only they will be able to take care of themselves from that time onwards. Stray cats are strong =)

I guess I will confront them tomorrow and take the kitten if they're really leaving it to die. I just checked a minute ago. The kitten is still left out there buried in the clothing.

Added on June 1, 2010, 1:17 amits slightly past 1am now...I just heard the neighbor taking the cat out for a bit...then putting her back in. I guess that's just how they take care of the kitten. They have a dog at the front of the house.

Maybe there's a reason why they are doing that. As long as the kittens are sheltered properly from rain and sunshine and fed, it should be alright. Have you tried asking the neighbour what are they intending to do with the kittens?
