Xigmatek unveils its largest desktop chassis, Elysium
Xigmatek has unveiled its largest full-tower desktop chassis to date, the Elysium (resting place of the righteous and blessed in Greek and Roman mythology). The enclosure is undoubtedly one of the largest mainstream solutions available, measuring 9.06 (W) x 24.33 (H) x 26.10 (D) inches and weighing 33.06 pounds. By comparison, Cooler Master's popular HAF X measures a smaller 9.1 x 21.7 x 23.6 inches, although it weighs about two pounds more.

That size affords the Elysium with a spacious interior for beefy hardware such as E-ATX, XL-ATX and HPTX motherboards, 10 expansion cards up to 17 inches long, two power supplies and a plethora of cooling apparatus -- be that air or liquid. Key features include a hot-swappable 2.5/3.5-inch SATA HDD docking station on the top panel, tool-less 5.25-inch bays, anti-vibration HDD and PSU mounts, dust filters, as well as USB 3.0 and eSATA ports.

The chassis has 12 external 5.25-inch bays, although many are technically occupied by two 3.5-inch cages that support a total of eight hard drives. There's also a spot to mount one 2.5-inch drive, such as an SSD. Xigmatek ships the Elysium with four fans that have white LEDs: two 120mm in front, one 140mm in back and one 200mm side blower. There are seven predrilled holes for liquid cooling along with support for 360mm and 420mm radiators.

As mentioned above, you can install two power supplies -- one on top and one on bottom -- and we should note that your cooling options change depending on what's installed where, so be sure to read the spec sheet before ordering aftermarket fans. The Elysium is currently available for preorder with silver or black accents and with or without a side panel window. Pricing ranges from €160 to €170 (~$227 to ~$242) and units should ship on May 19.
