Which did u buy? 8GB, 32GB or 64GB? Is the 3G for sale already? The 8GB is not 3G, it is a 2G with updated software.

I share your anguish....I tried to tweet Machines twice to ask about the status but looks like they dowan to layan me already. The last answer I got from them was almost a week ago.

Looks like the end of this week is not gonna happen. The so called "unforseen circumstances delay" has occurred cos I don't think SIRIM works on Sat and Sun.

Stocks are plentiful in our neighboring countries but here we are always last.

The ipod 3G 32GB will be my first iPod but by the way things are going, it's really putting me off and I doubt it is the fault of Apple.

There is no 8GB iPod touch for 3G. It is a 2G with updated software. The reason for this is for Apple to achieve the USD199 price tag to capture more sales. The true 3G ipod touch is the 32gb and 64gb which we are all waiting for.

Yes, the so called "3G" 8GB is in stores now. I think it is selling for RM779 if not mistaken. If you don't mind, I think some stores are also clearing the old 8GB 2G at a cheaper price but have to pay to upgrade to 3.1 OS.

As for BT, I'm not sure if it is available as I am still waiting to become a first time owner of iPod I am waiting anxiously for the 32GB to be commercially released.

Actually, is it now at Kastam or SIRIM? I had thought all these time SIRIM is the one doing all the b*tt dragging. If it is customs, then it would not be surprising. What is holding the clearance up is not the process itself but also probably the lack of certain "stimulants" that enables the process to go faster.

Just visited Machines at Mid-Valley and Gardens. No luck

I think it should be safe to give them at least middle of this month earliest to commercially launch. The previous generation also launched almost at the same time but only commercially available around middle of October last year because the bloody QA body took their bloody sweet time to approve. Maklumlah, bulan raya. All still in celebration mood and many still on holiday so not enough staff to clear before raya backlogs, let alone new assignments.

So just be patient la. I also given up already. I am psyching myself to expect end of October before I can be a first time owner of an Ipod Touch and that is IF it really launches then.

Hi...i see that you are trying to lift our spirits but I believe I have mentioned this in my post #587 above. The 'pending agency approval" has been gone for a few days already but look closely at the delivery time. It says "2-4 weeks" if I recall correctly.

Hi Heero, maybe there was a little miscommunication between us, sorry about that.

What I meant was that when you said "it's already launched" I thought you meant stocks are readily available. There is a difference between "launched" and "commercially launched". The ipod touch 3G has been "launched" since 09/09/09 but it is not "commercially launched" in Malaysia yet. What I understand about "commercially launched" is that the estimated delivery time would change to "within 24 hours" instead of "2-4 weeks" and there are ready stock available in apple resellers like Machines and Mac City.

I base this on comparison with other Apple stores which I have been following very closely. After the launch on 9/9, I monitored the Apple online stores for SG and TH for eg and there was the "32GB and 64GB pending agency approval" as well as the "2-4 weeks" delivery time on those stores as well but once approval was obtained and stocks were available, the "pending" statement was gone and the delivery time was changed to "within 24 hours" almost simultaneously. But here it is different, it is assumed that the ipods are still stuck at either SIRIM or Kastam.

No doubt, you may also be correct about the ipod being "commercially released" here due to your ability to make an order through the Apple online store but my frustrations are that I wish for the ipod to be available on hand now and not 2-4 weeks later.

BTW, did you order through the apple online store anyway? Congrats, if you did. I am still thinking about placing and order with a local apple reseller.

Anyone is free to correct me if I mentioned anything wrong...

1. 32GB and 64GB (3rd gen) comes with headphones that have mic and remote
2. No more cleaning cloth bundled
3. 3G ipods support voice control
4. 32GB replaces 16GB
5. Faster processor and OpenGL graphics support
6. iphone OS 3.1

Not quite sure what you meant there, Heero.

But if you wanna "look" then there is a place to "look", which is behind the ipod. The 3G has a smaller "32gb" logo and 2 lines of text beneath as opposed to 4 lines in the 2G. You can also "look" at the part number and model number. If you are too lazy to look at the back, then you can try to "look" at the sticker on the box for the part number and model number.

Did you ask them to show you the actual stock? Which shop is it? Are they an authorised reseller? If not, then it is probably brought in from SG or TH.

Hmm...guess it must be brought in from outside Malaysia then. Oh well, I guess I will wait till it's commercially available here first.
