What i know is power converter is for electric appliances, and power step down transformer can use for electric and electronic appliance.

efficiency for converter around 60% to 70% that mean 100 watt converter suitable for below 60 to 70 watt appliance. that mean for your case you should buy >100 watt voltage converter.....

i suggest you buy voltage transformer instead of voltage converter....because transformer can use for electric and electronic for continuous usage but voltage converter only for electric appliance and short usage of time.

Hi all.

Interesting discussion you have here. I'm buying a US set of Roomba 560. Any suggestion on any brand of good transformer? And any tips on the Roomba as well? Heard that it's a high-maintenance freak.

Thanks.

Bought Roomba 560, US model and was using it for over month now.

No complains here, just empty the dust bin roller, dust filter once a week. Wipe dust off with wet cloth, 5-7 mins, you're done!

Using it to clean master bedroom, living room and daughter's room, 3 times a week.

Loved the auto docking to re-charge....so sci-fi biggrin.gif

where did you buy it from?
any import duty charge by our custom?

i'm thinking of getting it from amazon or some other online retail.

visiting some singapore forum, seem that some modify their charger or buy a local set charger for better reliability.

Have been running the Roomba Discovery, 535, 560 & Scooba 380 for a year plus without issues rclxm9.gif

AFAIK the Clorox Scooba solution is only available in US, the international retailers in other countries do not carry them.

Have tried various solutions, Mr Clean, AJAX Fabuluso, Kiwi Kleen, Clorox Non-Bleach Floor Cleaner, and Kiwi Kleen seems to work best - not much foaming.

Suitability between Roomba & Scooba depends on your flooring and also needs, if you have mainly laminated flooring & parquet flooring then go for a Roomba, using Scooba on laminate floors will damage them due to moisture.

For regular cleaning of kitchen floor, Scooba works best as it cleans up whatever grease or liquid drippings on the floor.

If you live in a condo/high rise, best to go for a Roomba as your first robot.

I bought my Roomba 560 through e-bay. With Shipping is like RM1388. Damn, the Malaysian Gov tax me RM400...

Anyway, it works great. I got a 200VA transformer to step down the voltage to 120V. I'm using it to sweep the floor everyday twice. My kids don't sneeze anymore.

Anyone bought scooba? I'm thinking to get one...

Checked out the local distributor today.
Only the 580 is available, and it's priced at a whopping RM2588! shocking.gif
Has anyone tried the locally-made Picabot yet?

I'm checking out the Picabot next weekend. It doesn't have the virtual wall feature, but I doubt I'll be needing it anyway.

Picabot was being sold for $1488 during Homedec recently. Salesman said that compared to roomba, battery life is shorter and vacuuming power is also lower (cannot pick up peebles and screws, which he said is unlikely to be found in our homes anyway unlike Westerners). Picabot also has a special bulb to disinfect the floor (I'm not convinced though).

There's another brand, Oku San No, which is selling for less than 1k. Haven't seen it in action.

Just bumped into a thread under

Lowyat.NET -> Trade Zone -> Bulk Orders [BULK] Auto Cleaner Intelligent Floor Vacuum, SORRY DUE TO WRONG PRICE QUOTED
forum.lowyat.net/topic/634901/+20

but last entry was June 08. It was offered for $800.

QUOTE(techm @ May 11 2008, 12:59 PM)
Hi guys
I got myself an Oku San No automatic vacuum cleaner drool.gif
Bought at Kepong Carrefour at RM 898.
Anyway here are my initial thoughts after 1 day of using it

Pros:
- It's pretty nifty & cute when u see it moving all over the house smile.gif
- Does its job of "general" cleaning.
- It auto recharges itself! smile.gif

Cons:
- It's round in shape, so don't expect it to properly clean corners of walls where it cant reach. Just a minor issue this is.
- It gets stuck along wires, or soft/light foot mats doh.gif . Make sure your floor is free of all these.
- It's kinda dumb...looks like its moving in random directions & in circles. I was hoping it had more intelligence built in (like creating an image of the room in its head)
- Haven't tested on the stairs, but it quite often falls off and gets stuck at drops of 4-5cm doh.gif doh.gif doh.gif doh.gif doh.gif doh.gif doh.gif doh.gif . (I'm not sure if the edge sensor is working also??). Need to use the virtual wall feature to prevent it from falling over this area.
Quite a few cons, but I guess it's a "reasonable" price for such a new product.

My wife likes it a lot though. thumbup.gif

Anybody has seen how the iRobot compares to this?

QUOTE kbandito
Yes, RM400 if you get from the wholesaler in Malaysia.
China manufacturing cost is RM100+, plus import tax to Malaysia, the cost for local wholesaler is RM200+, they sell to retailer for RM400.
Solid info from my friend, he is selling this model.

Added on October 9, 2009, 8:55 amJust came across my mind that this thread seems to have moved in another direction. Sorry for that, aremad9.

Anyway, if you can get the iroomba for $1,788 (quote rubikian) + transformer cost, its much better.

I personally have no faith in these "copy" products, espcially since the local distributors also earn high margin.

@sherwin
Earlier you suggested "Mr Clean, AJAX Fabuluso, Kiwi Kleen, Clorox Non-Bleach Floor Cleaner, and Kiwi Kleen" to replace the Clorox solution. All of them works ? Any recommendation for greasy floor ?

I bought my Scooba at a very cheap price from a US site called www.woot.com. This site has one item per day deals so you will need to be very patient, checking back daily. They will occasionally have Scooba/Roomba on sale. You will need to use a US address though; eg. shipped to a friend or use a Borderlinx account. I don't think they ship internationally. A bit of a hassle but a Scooba can be yours at only USD$99; RM350. Note that you may get the refurbished set and it's the older model 5900/5800.

And regarding the cleaning solution, it's a bummer that we can't get a Scooba cleaning solution here. I find the solution really effective and cleans dirty floors very well! I tried Kiwi Kleen (blue one) and still find it foamy. The vacuum filter traps moisture, indicating the solution is still foamy.

Just bought a iRobot 560 roomba pet series...must admit, its so much more powerful compared to the cap ayam one I previously own.

Any idea how much the power adapter cost? Cuz mine is US Voltage one...

I didn't know got Roomba thread here in Lowyat. Of all places in hobbies section doh.gif

Parents recently bought the 780 model, coz the house so big it became too difficult to clean all the floors. Amazing machine I would say! Very very smart can go back to its 'base' after it finish the job. Can find its way under the bed, table and chairs and get out safely.

If got a some issue,it is that our TV table is too high for its sensor to detect and too low for it physically go under it. doh.gif Ended up stuck and have to be 'rescued'. So have to use the virtual wall to stop it from going near the table.

Normal shipping cost per Roomba only is already $150 SGD.

If you compare my price for Roomba 780 & Scooba 380 by you own shipped is slightly higher than you buy from me & still got warranty to cover your robots.

Good luck. Happy chinese new year!

Hi, nice to see you here.

In Malaysia so far still can't find out have anyone selling the Neato or Mint Plus.

The only in my thread you can find out all the vacuum robots here.

To be compare the Mint is good for one room to one room sweep on every single room to change and wet clothes or dry clothes or used with Maggie clean wet tissue smile.gif

The Neato is good like mapping jobs, but not as good like roomba can vacuum in corner or stars drop-off to used with virtual wall.

The Neato have to using the magnetting tape,
Once the magnetting tape is someone kicking away,
So the Neato will be stuck over of drop from upper floor at staircase area.

So I will prefer the Roomba only. Good & Durable used.

The Scooba for floor tiles is the most is good in used.
Even myself still prefer Scooba to sweep my house.
Once it is done I feels my leg is very smooth with non-stick at all..
Cause the Scooba is using the tank to change in new water in time and using the brush to be polishing the floors..

Thanks

I bought my Roomba 560 through e-bay. With Shipping is like RM1388. Damn, the Malaysian Gov tax me RM400...

Anyway, it works great. I got a 200VA transformer to step down the voltage to 120V. I'm using it to sweep the floor everyday twice. My kids don't sneeze anymore.

Anyone bought scooba? I'm thinking to get one...

In my experience got fews customer is by own shipped to m'sia and exploded the charger.

Some is just starting and found the bumper sensor failure or Scooba check tank.

That is the happening.

For example the roomba 560 + Scooba 390.

Original price 399.99 + 499.99
Included shipping cost : 150+130
Total amount for USD : 1179.98 x Rm3.8 = Rm4,484.00 + the 240v charger for both : Rm250 & 155 net net become : Rm4,890.00 still under US warranty only.

For my combo set of roomba 561 & Scooba 380 include postage : Rm3,600.00
The charger for both is ready used in 240v and come with 1 year local warranty from your purchased.

Thanks

Hi, shahrun

For mint plus is more stable for lanminated floor and may change the wet cloth or using magiclen wet tissue.

For normal floor titles I would recommend more on Scooba 380 for able to change water of before clean an much more cheaper cost of future used.

Just let me know about your detail arrange on site demo.. Thank you smile.gif

Hi, regarding the roomba & Neato both got thier weakness.

Neato much easly to clean up.

Roomba will remain some dust on vacuum bin and cleaning head module.

But Neato maintenance parts much higher x 2 of roomba.

Everything is just depend you prefer which models.

For me if the robot can help me cleaning my floors I'm very happy already, cause I not need works

hi, is there any places that I can get a list of he irobot series productions comparison (e.g tabular format)? I just a bit lost on the features provided by each models.

Since scooba able to provide mop function, why people still choose roomba series? any idea?

Hi, my comparison and reviews all you can find up my website : www.kimirobotstore.com

Regarding the Scooba only able to do the mopping job, but don't have big dust bin to picking up the dust or long hair & pet hairs/fur.

But Scooba can be remove the oily stain or stairs.
Also doing the polishing job on same time with when it is doing the job.

Roomba cannot mopping and only able to do the vacuuming job, and also the sidebrush to be help up on side wall / edge.
On the dust / hair remain as the wall edge.
From the roomba usually can picking up to 70% of the floors clean, but still remain the sticky feeling on when you step on floors.

Once the Scooba to be cover up as 100% clean so that is prefectly combo work out.

Thanks

Roomba design is the battery after flat or weak and remove the battery out from bottom place.
Once you left this over 1-2 months and battery leak and said bye bye to your expansive robot than replace new battery.

Thanks
