May I know how this "People skill (Ren Yuan)" can impact our life in our working environment?

Can someone please translate "Ren Yuan" into English as I do know the english word for it.

Ren = people
Yen = connections

I think it means interpersonal relationship skills.

Dear Thread Starter,

Yu may want to take your preposition elsewhere. For example, Kopitiam.

人缘 means your fate/luck with ppl.

good 人缘 means you'll meet lots of ppl, haf lots of friends, pretty much get along well with most ppl.

bad 人缘 means, well, the opposite.

in the working environment, of coz having good 人缘 is beneficial.

@kaiserwulf,
Er... Ren being people and Yen being connections, it gives me the impression, it may been 'connections/networking' not interpersonal relationship skills *shrugs*

is a very important aspect of social and working skill...

what good is a person, EVEN if he/she is damn good at his/her work, make tonnes of money but all alone?

unless he/she treats work like his/her friend, than something must definately be wrong somewhere.

...

From what i have observed, difference between Good/bac at work and good/bad ppl skill at work...

WORK
1. if a person is really good at his/her work, other employers even from other company will even recognize your achievement.

2. if a person does work like any avg joe or bad, employers tend to not notice.

PEOPLE SKILL
1. if the person is good at his/her work and at the same time good ppl skill is a double bonus... naturally this type of person will get hunted!

2. If a person has bad ppl skill, i can assure you if the industry is small... EVERYONE will know you, not to mention being talk of the town. (as oopposing to ppl who do avg and bad at their work)

In short, there is something known as soft skill which is important for you to deal with people.

TS, are u referring to ren yuan (human relationships)?

it is important in all aspect of life. it is better to have friends than enemies. when u r in trouble u will know how ren yuan will help u (like u made mistake, then ur superior will close one eye).

no need to be over concern about it. just treat ur friends, family and colleague nice. help them tapao food / snack or other small matters will helps.

I had see this happens to people who does not socialize much but have "Ren Yuan" and get promotion while those who work hard still stay at the same level as he/she does not have "Ren Yuan".

Is this a soft skill or more on the way we do things?

'ren yuan' is important not only in work but your life, family, friends, relationship, etc.

TS, any chance that you are actually trying to say: 'ren ji kuan xi'

of course important la, got good relationship with people, work also smoother and faster and happier. the impossible can become possible.

very true, especially part in bold. People who have this skill tend to get noticed (and thus promoted) faster than others, even though their actual work could be of substandard quality.
