There's no such thing as full mark for English preposition. Those that say they've scored full mark is a total nincompoop by him/herself.

Was totally mad when I received my English result. My continuous essay was out of topic, which deduct lots of marks. Surprisingly, now my trial 2 result was ruined by English subject while others are slightly improving. Now my GPA went worse comparing with my mock 1 result.

QUOTE(realz @ Nov 3 2009, 06:19 PM) I took risk on writing stories. Majority of my English teachers will give more priority/higher marks to students that write factual essays. I'm sick of writing those, so in the end I chose to do narrative writing. It's a bit unfair for creative students that wrote great horror stories during mock1 and they ended up getting low grades. |

People I need help desperately!
For Paper 1(Essay paper) Section A :Directed Writing, I need help with the formats of Article,Report. Firstly, I bought a revision book which teaches you the format of SPM. The book got a lot of report formats which are confusing(movie review, news review, school minute etc,but they say won't come out in SPM 1). Then I bought 2 revision books ( model questions ) the first book my sister says is for O levels because the questions&answers all very hard and my sister told me for report only got 1 type only(this book got school minute questions and alot of hard stuff, everyone say that it will never come out in SPM). Then the second model question book's answer like very simple and the format is like normal(I think this is the correct book, but I'm just not sure whether it is the right format, many of my friends are giving different opinion/advice) So my question is, which do I follow? and if possible please guide me on which format should I use. Thank you so much. This post has been edited by diversity: Nov 3 2009, 11:51 PM |

QUOTE(diversity @ Nov 5 2009, 04:49 PM) Hey, thanks a lot it really helps. For the report format, is that the only one that will come out in SPM? What about 'school minutes, newspaper report, movie report etc? thanks again! According to my analysis, (refer pg 1)We will do report this 19th (even I hope for something that not too formal) and I dont think it will be news or movie reports. All in the module nothing more than it hopefully |

Ok, to those taking BI this coming SPM 2009
When it comes to essay try your best to do factual essays, don't risk writing stories, those guys marking your paper will seriously check your essay. If factual you can tipu-tipu a bit |

hey guys, i want to share my trial essay with you all. i got 41 for it and i admit that i did some 'research' on it.
Title: Smoking among teenagers Consider all teenagers are smokers. Why is it so? Because smoking is basically a process of inhaling smoke of tobacco leaves from a pipe, cigar or more commonly, cigarette. Smiking among teenagers has increased during the past few years. According to statistics, 3 out of 10 teenagers are smokers and 6 out of 10 teen smokers states the cause of them being a smoker is due to the influence of friends. Numerous measures have been taken to curb this habit that is labelled as 'cool' by some teens. However, most of the steps are just ineffective. The most recent campaign to hit our shore is having an offensive picture of the effect of smoking on each cigarette pack. For excample, you an see pictures of a smoker's lungs, heart, feet, liver, lips and even a stillborn baby behind the cashier's counter at your neighbourhood grocery store. In my opinion, it is indeed effective towards long-term and aging smokers but I do not believe that this would make as much impact towards teen smokers. This is because most teenagers nowadays have been desensitized by television shows, movvies and viral videos in the Internet. My friend once told me he actually bought each of the unique cigarette pack because he thought they were like an adult version of the freebies in a McDonald's Happy Meal. Another step that I think is also not effective is the banning of the sale of cigarettes to a minor. Due to their rebellious nature, teenagers are able to bypass it easily. For example, a minor can easily says that he or she wants to buy a pack of cigarettes for his father. But, even if the person who is selling cigarettes to them knew he or she is a minor and lying, they would not even bother. For them, money makes the world go round and they would do anything to make some greens. It makes them even happier when the Government has increased the price of a cigarette pack. Some even called for a ban of smoking altogether. Some argued that implementing this will cause all smoker, including teen smokers, to stop smoking. However, doing this is stagerringly naive. If smoking is banned, why not ban alcohol too? How about chocolate? It is only a matter of time to see the items mentioned to be banned too if smoking is banned. Let the smokers have their free will to do whatever they want because we do not need a Big Brother to control our daily lives. In conclusion, most of the steps to curb smoking among teenagers like the ones I have listed are ineffective and almost a complete waste of time, money and effort. Every layer of society should work together to think of a far more approachable and effective way to curb this habit among teenagers. |

QUOTE(noobfc @ Nov 10 2009, 04:36 PM) Ok, to those taking BI this coming SPM 2009 Yes you can lie about facts, but get caught and marks will be severely deducted. Because you have to elaborate on the points that you gave. And that means that your whole paragraph is a lie, therefore no marks will be given for your content. Only marks for your language. When it comes to essay try your best to do factual essays, don't risk writing stories, those guys marking your paper will seriously check your essay. If factual you can tipu-tipu a bit How SPM/PMR papers are marked is that they have atleast 2-3 different teachers checking on the same paper. Your paper goes through the 1st teacher, then onto the 2nd and so on. Chances are that you will get caught. |
