QUOTE(gogo2 @ Oct 26 2009, 12:13 AM) http://43rumors.com/ft3-next-olympus-mft-specs-via-zone-10/ wow..looks like the price will be expensive too.. little more about the next Olympus MFT: “1. Model name may not necessarily be the E-P2. The “Pen Footprint” may be for a specific model, but the m43 standard is for a sensor-chamber and lens-mount design and does not dictate the shape of the rest of the camera. Expect this camera to have increased thickness and height as compared to the E-P1 due to the built-in EVF and not quite so rectangular-shaped. A little more “muscular” looking with some characteristics not making it as cute as the E-P1. 2. This camera will have an articulating LCD monitor similar to that found on the E-620, but with higher resolution. 3. There will be a built-in EVF with diopter adjustment on the viewfinder optics. Resolution of this EVF is not known at this time, but may be SVGA in resolution. 4. In step with the constant evolution of processors, this camera will be equipped with the TruePic V+ processing engine that is similar to the TruePic V, but with support for additional video aspects and additional Creative Art filters. 5. Battery is shared with the E-P1 and it is likely going to have a CF card slot in addition to SD. This spec may change, but the target audience for this camera is still heavily invested in CF. 6. Expect a new lens, possibly a “Wide-Standard” prime lens to be introduced with this model with better specifications. Wide-Standards are typically those within the 35-42mm (FF35mm Equivalent) range. As the camera itself is larger than the E-P1, the lens may also be a little larger too, which will result in better optics. 7. Auto-focus is improved with faster performance and better low-light capability. 8. I.S. will have improvements as well as a new feature not previously seen in Olympus bodies.” |

QUOTE(seaotter @ Nov 2 2009, 06:10 PM) yeah, only in the longer lens you get IS. hopefully its e-p2 ..and hopefully the price and spec is not dissapointing! Also, the system is less than 2 years old, so give it some chance with the lens la. Panasonic is coming out with more lenses next year, and i heard olympus is going to announce something soon. panasonic lens is quite expensive.. olympus is expensive too but a bit cheaper still.. although not much difference.. |

QUOTE(dcsuave05 @ Nov 4 2009, 10:27 AM) no built-in flash. I believed Olympus wants to reduce the overall size and weight and option to exclude it. if not incl the built in flash, then still can only use either external flash or EVF? The hidden cost I see here is the EVF. The positive thing abt this new release for me is the higher resolution screen and the new True Pic V+ engine, hopefully to improve the AF. anyone know when will the official announce for this new model?? QUOTE(gogo2 @ Nov 5 2009, 09:54 AM) Compare to previous fake rumours, this real E-P1 spec is not really big upgrade true..i keep waiting for internal flash..but now seems like lack of this..and also higher resolution LCD too..EVF is not really useful to me if using EVF then cant use external flash..and the price suddenly different so much with ep1.. from E-P1.... Let's see: 12 Megapixel - E-P1 got 3fps - not really useful if E-P2 AF still slow stereo sound - E-P1 got AF tracking - How affective? Not really used all the time also. 1.44 million dot electronic viewfinder with 100% field of view - ok, some people who keep on asking for EVF will get their wish 8 Art Filters (two more than the E-P1 ….. Diorama Filter and Cross Process) - can this upgraded with firmware for E-P1? i-Enhance function (color boost) - can this be upgrade also... also, both this feature is software based... can do it with PC... 230K LCD - E-P1 got X1/180 - not sure... So what big upgrade? I don't see any big upgrade also... I'll think big upgrade will be very very fast AF and higher resolution LCD, AF assist, internal flash... But unfortunately, E-P2 biggest upgrade is EVF and 3fps... |

i read many reviews mostly saying that E-P1 produce more detail photos compare with GF1. this is one of the review from dpreview: The E-P1 is not only capturing fractionally more detail, but its output is cleaner (without the GF1's moiré and artefacts) and is less 'digital' looking, certainly when viewed this close.
the only downside is no flash!.some may feel tat external flash is better but when u wan portable and fast shoot at dark, built in flash is important too..another one is slow focus.. Low resolution screen that's hard to see in bright light at least still can take it.. why new e-p2 still not improve on it..but improve a lot on price but if the price is within rm3500 or less, i will still consider E-P2.. |
