hmm, interesting topic... btw just to share senior army officer log a lot of complain regarding ATMA now UPNM graduate... after graduation they hold a rank as a capt and know nothing....

heard from my father, they are goin to evaluate back the rank that need to be given to UPNM graduate.

btw, life in army is tough, the boss is always right no matter what. on the other hand if u are good u can fly all around the world. my father has been almost every country of the world. this is the time where u want to earn some money or saving. Regular pay just so and so but had alot of benefit ie driver, car, house (really big) , annual leave for 60 days,

If I'm not mistaken, only the politically useful are allowed to climb the ranks.

I don't think we're treating our common soldiers well enough, by the way.

know nothing but act like they own the world. in the past, they bully juniors like some kind of dog. their attitude is sickening and ragging is very severe.

they are closing those army, air force and navy colleges. so i think they will scale back to 1 pip lieutenant for UPNM.
need to let them experience from the bottom first. not so fast let them have privileges and boss people around like people owe them something just because they went through hard (maybe not) training. Other rank soldiers went through worse and are still living in lower conditions compared to officers. they didn't complain and still have to endure the arrogance of officers.

if you can fly around the world, that means you are the high rank officers that are usually not attainable by non bumis. to have your own driver and car, you need to be at least a colonel which is not easily obtainable as well. big house depends on your relationship with the camp commandant. anyway, the house is not yours and have to be returned after you retire or posted somewhere else. so please get your facts straight. not everyone can even rise to lieutenant colonel. major yes. but after that, see for yourself.

i talked with one of my patient earlier on today...
hes an army captain, working for an malaysian army for more than 20 years.
anyway, out of my curiosity ( the patient of mine was actually provoking me real hard to check the website regarding the availability of the job application in the army) i came across with this thing :
http://maf.mod.gov.my/kerjaya/gaji01.htm

its quite intriguing..the salary and future prospect of this "job".
i must admit, army "job" has never crosses my mind before.
me and my bro just had a little discussion about these, and both of us decided to think about this seriously.
based on the qualifications, both of us would end up being a captain, should we enroll ourself with our engineer and medical doctor degrees, respectively.

so why am i here writing all these craps?
~im just hoping that anybody could give us some extra info about this future prospect of being a "military man".. chip us in with anything that you got.your patronage is very very much appreciated.
thanks

I would be very much appreciate if you can ask the Kapt, if i can join up and be placed in Nuclear, Biology, and Chemical Defence unit in Rejimen Askar Jurutera Diraja. If not then, I also think of being an Ammunition Technical Officer in Kor Ordnans Diraja. I think Science graduate officer had better chance being an ammunition technical officer.

I am a nuclear science graduate and had my PALAPES training previously before. I won't like it if my B. Sc. have no specific value in the armed forces and they simply dumped me in the infantry unit like Royal Rangers or Border Regiment sad.gif sad.gif ..but anyway, being in the Royal Artillery Regiment also quite nice biggrin.gif. very interested to join in the army.

Last 2 year's graduate officer intake for the army required education graduate, n last year's takes only religious study graduate sad.gif not sure how this year's intake gonna be, just hope they are taking science graduate this year..

With a degree you can straight away join into kapten rank. A step lower than major.

It definitely be a good thing to join into army as you get respected by people you come across.

If got degree, join in as graduate officer, n thn u'll get captain straight away...after few years after going through some courses then, u'll rise up to major

Corporal is non-commisioned officer...not officer....

Being an officer means u have to command someone, you have to plan, and give out order to your men to do the job...depends on your corp r regiment...for example if u r in the infantry unit like Rej.Askar Melayu, Rejimen Renjer or Rejimen Sempadan, you'll have a company of soldiers to command, which ur company will be divided into 3 platoon, each one commanded by a lieutenant. If you r in armour corp, u'll lead a tank troop with 3-4 tanks. in artillery, u'll be the one who conduct and coordinate the fire of your gun position based on the grid location given by the forward observer offcer. If u r in royal engineer, u'll lead n supervise your men building bridge, destroy minefield, defuse bombs, destroy building/strucures, digging trenches, conduct Nuclear, biology n chemical warfare defence and decontamination.

There are also non combat role in the army for officers like medical/dentistry/veterinary officer, electrical and mechanical engineer officer, logistic officer, ammunition technical officer, education officer, signal officer....

If u think u have the gut, join in the Rejimen Gerak Khas (not the Gelak Khas police movie played in the TV), or known as Komando biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

hey,why not? u already have a degree and u will end up your carrier in military field as a captain, but before that u have to attend some courses

before officially appointed as an officer..and obviously,u have to undergo some basic training on handling the firearm and combat tactics

but that is only for about 3 months (correct me if i'm wrong).
