Huhuhu or u can opt to become NS trainer after u finished serving the military. If u're a high ranking officer, u get to scold and yell at trainees (which, of course applies to the trainers).

It's quite nice, salary is high and most of the time u just need to yell and scold. So, it's good for those who have loud voice.

i think there is some engineering/technical post oso in army. actually i have been eyeing/considering it for a while tongue.gif
TUDM/TLDM can be considered army too meh? Anyway, from what i read in their brochures, the pay is quite good. A grad could get around 2.7k inclusive all the benefits. I forgot which one, but it's either TLDM/TUDM. And if im not mistaken u get to be called Kapten, if u have a degree. No need to shout/yell and still get called captain is still cool what tongue.gif

But it would be much better if someone who actually works there could tell how it's like.

there are engineering corp in the army as well as in the air force and navy. but it is better to join the air force or navy if you want to work as engineers. the culture is better and you get to work with better stuff. 1 of my friend is in the army engineering corp and she said it's mostly civil engineering. there are kor jurutera letrik but i'm not sure bout that corp. for air force, after commission as an officer with a degree as a captain, you have to go for a 9 months engineer course. of course there are other positions like pegawai radar etc. the best base to work is subang air base since it's the HQ. For navy, not really sure but i guess u can work on their rajawali helicopters or maintain ships. however, for all 3 services, if you are an officer, you don't need to dirty your hands. your staff will be doing the work not you. you just supervise and sign contracts. and do planning. that's why you actually learn nothing. but it's not good to shout and yell at your staff. you still need to take care of them even though they have to obey you. malaysia military culture is like that. you can't go against your superiors for fear of repercussions.you may get a hit, punch or slap from problem officers. there are even more punishment that are harsh.
1 is having to report to the military police guard post every hour. it is very tiring. another is marching for hours on end.1 that i particularly don't like is change parade. you need to go back to your barracks to change uniforms every 5 minutes. it had to be experienced to be believed.

maybe you need your staff's help in the future.it's good to have a good relationship with your staff but not too much until they step on your head. many of those other ranks staff have told me they don't like officers. officers don't know anything and they walk and act as if they have something big to prove. i really hope that the malaysian military culture improves. i'm happy to know that there are good officers even though there are many bad ones. i just don't like power subjugating power. like you are bullied by officers with higher ranks and you repeating that on new young officers or when you surpass the officer who bullied you. that way, the cycle never ends. i even wished i can join foreign militaries like USAF and US Army. i heard we can join the french or british army but only can join their infantry. can retire after 5 years and get pension which is quite high. PMC (private military contractors) are out of the question. Spy agencies are also out of the question.

There are a lot of corp in the army. like infantry, services corp (takes care of salary stc), medical corp, religion corp, logistics corp, engineer corp, tanks corp, etc. army has the most interesting departments or corp in the military compared to the air force or navy. too bad air force and navy feel more modern and higher standard. whistling.gif

you have to be a commando to be a sniper. and the selection and training is not easy.

as an officer, u can choose your corp but in the end, they choose for you. engineer qualification but they throw you in infantry. management degree but they throw you in engineer corp.
in the air force or navy, they give you places that suit your qualifications.

who said officers don't need to work in the front lines? you can sit in your office growing your fat butt if you reach lieutenant colonel. the lowest rank which is lieutenants to captains still need to join in operasi even though you have privileges. you shouldn't insult privates. it's tough already being at the bottom of the food chain. they don't need to be insulted with that kind of remark. why don't you go and join as a private and see how it's like?
