kind off..my cousin, a former Kedah reserve team captain tried to apply to be a coach but end up being asked to attend a year course there...
The thing is that, FAM requires all A license coach to have a sports science degree. A couple of years back, or last year (can't remember), when the requirement was first mooted, all Super League coaches was scrambling to get their degree. Now it has become a pre-requisite, to get A license la. Only class A coaches can coach a Super League team. & only FAM can produce A license.
B license is less stringent la, U only have to go to a course, then there's an exam. FAM & state FAs conduct such courses. Contact the state FA la, easier.
Added on June 17, 2009, 1:26 pmMy advice is, get some experience first la. Playing football is not the same as coaching or managing a football team. Considering Malaysia's football culture, a lot of young aspiring coaches burned down simply due to frustration. Why ? Everybody's got ideas & stuff, but not everybody will agree to those ideas, especially revolutionary ones. Ppl will be more reluctant to accept ideas from somebody they dun know.
U can start with youth or junior teams. This is the best place to start. Why ? Becoz with the youth team, the players are not yet corrupted by the senior players or senior teams. They will accept everything U teach them, trust me. A few months back TV3 highlighted one youth team in Damansara I think, which was run by some group of parents. Dun even need a coaching license for that. & the team was very good, even won some local tournaments.
These are just some of my suggestions. Whatever path U take, good luck.
