Hi People

Just a note, Panasonic had launch their new TH-P42G10K today. Only the 42" model.

Pricing?

I thought you might ask that, the SRP (Suggested retail Price) is RM 7,+++ (without free gift, no special bundle etc, etc)

I am VERY happy with my TH-P42S10K bundled with DMP-BD60!! nod.gif

very few people would buy it at 7k considering the S is RM3200.

Doomed for very low sales

From a Panashop owner.

Because of very good sale of the TH-P42S10K (bundle) he is refraining from ordering in the TH-P42G10K

He himself is very surprised with Panasonic pricing....

FYI, the RSP for S10 42" is RM 4499 without bundle, only free hdmi cable, quoted by Onking Electronics. I'm not so sure about the rest of the shop though. The RM 3200 tag is for promotion period. tongue.gif

In today's world, nobody would spend 7k on a 42 plasma, no matter how good it is. And enthusiast who have 7k would rather pay for a 50 inch S.

I think the salesman got the model or size wrong or the price wrong. I have met many salesman who had shallow knowledge of what they are selling. Even Pioneer not selling 42 inch Kuro more than 7K... and that is the king of the hill....

Er... this is not a sales person who gave me this information

It is the boss of the Panashop

Panasonic launch this model today and had called him to ask for his order

After reviewing the price, he had decline to place any order at this point in time

He had already got my business and had no reason to B.S. me.

Anyway, he knows better then to B.S. me (we have know each other for some time, and he knows that if he B.S. me there would be *lacking a better term* "consequences" tongue.gif )

I agree with you. Was thinking the 7K would be for their 50" model....

As for Pioneer, it think they had for some time decided that they want to get out of the Plasma TV business, therefore their pricing had taken this into consideration

As for Panasonic they had just expanded their Plasma TV facilities, and that put on record they will continue to do so for the immediate future

The Panashop boss where in their japanese factory (panel manufacturing) last year and was so impressed by their production that he is pushing their Plasma TV like no body's business

No, got the TH-P42S10K on Saturday.

Went to the shop to pay for the set today when the owner story me about the TH-P42G10K

Yes, he did indicate that Panasonic is bringing in the 50", but they did not indicate when

Depends on whether Panasonic decides to have a booth in the AV show I suppose... With this soft economy...

there is no special price on TH-P42G10 during the upcoming KLIAV or HomeDec or any other fairs.

the price depends on the / released by the event dealers.

Okay, after reading you post, I called the Panashop guy again, he said not possible.

Nevermind, I'm sure Panasonic will advertise in the paper soon, would have a clear picture (no pun intended) then. icon_rolleyes.gif

Retail price for G10 is RM6399. The most also around 5.5K after discount. I am still hoping it can fall within 4K range since S10K and X10K only a few hundred different cry.gif

Better book the S10K this mth before the RM32XX offer also disappeared in KL.

Hi People

Permit me to apologise

The SRP of TH-P42G10K is RM 6399

My Panashop friend misquoted to me (and I have given him a STERN talking to)

I hope my misinformation did not deter anyone's TV buying decision

My humblest apologise... icon_rolleyes.gif

Hi Guys, I am also into this Topic. I am planning to get one, but been confuse by the Panasonic website over the specification.

FYI. I have called up to Panasonic, and ask the price is RM6399 and there is no gift or comes with BD60 Blu Ray Player, that i see there is comes with S Series of Plasma.

I have check the Panasonic Global and mention from the specification is very good.

Panasonic Global
http://www2.panasonic.com/consumer-electro...5702#tabsection

When you check the website from Malaysia below, the specification is totally different.

Panasonic Malaysia
http://www.panasonic.com.my/web/pid/7938/Spec

I have talk to one of the representative so call that know the specfication.

Explain that is the correct specification. I have told them this should not be, otherwise if this is the specification then Panasonic will not going to sell even single unit if people know how to compare. Just 600Mhz motion flow compare to 550mhz motion flow, is cost RM2200 more.

She then said will check and get back to me again. I believe they are updating the wrong info that will causing confusion to others.

Hope she will come back with the correct information and the good promotion time, this one will be hang at my living room..

Cheers.

whether the motion flow is 600Hz or 550Hz, both are equally better than the motion flow of LCD tv.

so now, G series is the replacement model of 50PY850/42PY800.

apart from the motion flow, there are a lot differences between G and S series.

there will be no promotion package for G series.

at this price, i expect the G series PQ to be on par with Pioneer Kuro 408XG. Also, I expect it to use single sheet glass.

guys, the G,X,S sold in malaysia are actually TH(eg TH-50G10K),not the TC(us model) which are all over the web.

this explains the difference in spec..

as i said earlier, our TH G10 will lack VieraCast, thx certification, and ar filter..

Each market will have different spec. In the US and Singapore, the have built-in digital tuner for receiving HD broadcast. Malaysian model have those and many more things strip down yet panasonic is selling to us more expensive. Malaysia Boleh!

Z and V not yet launched for this region.... Singapore will receive earlier than Malaysia. The price for V and Z is rather expensive. Therefore they don't expect to sell them in large quantity.

For my opinion, nothing to worry.
The heat won't really cause much problem, worst case, only shorten the life span of electronic.
Instead of 30 years, maybe the TV will last 10 years in a non-air con room.
10 years not enough?

High power consumption?
Let just say if we want to enjoy a high quality stuff, we have to pay a litte extra.
I am not rich, but I think it worth to pay extra electric bill to enjoy it.

Basically I do not really sit in front of the TV very long. So heating and high power consumption to me, is a minor problem.

Of course, low power consumption is much ideal but it comes with a price like G10. The price is out of my budget. So no choice have to stick to S10K blush.gif

If I'm not mistaken, assuming U watch TV 8hours per day, somebody did a calculation, with G10 (compared to S10) you save about RM70 per YEAR! not sure whether that saving can justify the price difference. Well if you watch less TV, less saving .....

Hmmm, RM70 per year and the price difference is about 2K. 2000/70 = 28 years. If you are buying G10 mainly cause of the power consumption, it is not worth it at all. 28 years, by then the G10K can be put in the museum already biggrin.gif

I think can forget about the energy saving feature. As with most current energy saving appliances, they have strict criterias to achieve, most of which we do not adhere if we use it 'normally'.

I think the more interesting thing comparing the G10 is how the enhanced panel translates to PQ.

Yeah I am more interested to see how is this enhanced panel further enhances the PQ compared to S10K since the price gap is so big. How slim is the panel as well? Can it be as slim as the Samsung LED TV? That LED TV is a beauty indeed. laugh.gif Just that I do not have budget sad.gif

I was at Tong Kong SS3 PJ and took a peak at the behind of the 42G10K and the power consumption is rated at 420W (or 450W can remember). And my 42S10K is rated at 350W.

What gives? I thought 42G10K is using the new Neo PDP which is suppose to use less electricity.

Anyway, I could not see the difference between the two as there were no side by side comparison and the 42G10K was using a DVD source.

My old 29" panasonic TV rated 180W only. Meaning purchase new TV required to pay higher electric bill compare to old TV.

Any one care to confirm this?

Added on August 1, 2009, 7:06 pmBtw, when I compare plasma with LCD.

http://www.panasonic.com.my/web/pid/6474/Spec
http://www.panasonic.com.my/web/pid/7938/Spec

LCD TV = 184w
Plasma TV = 445w.

In summary?

Thats the whole problem with most shops. They use DVDs to 'showcase' a FHD display. Like that, dun say S10, even X10 also no difference lerr ... doh.gif

Added on September 1, 2009, 10:21 pmSori, but found this 6 PAGES back, but seriously, no one got the G10? Or too shy to admit they got one?!

hi guys, I'm also considering to buy the P42S10K or P42G10K. I've got a quote for 4,300 (S10 - packaged with the Blu Ray player which costs 1,999 if bought separately) and 5,550 (G10 - no package at all). Delivery within KL and installation is 100 with the wall mount brackets. Prices not negotiated yet. Quoted from Wing Hing at Kampung Batu (at the end of Jln Ipoh, nearer to Jinjang side).

Someone mentioned that it is not worthwhile to buy the G10K because for the amount of upgraded specs, the price difference is not worth it. Care to explain why? I'm not really a TV savvy person.

I'm going to demo both TV side by side this saturday or next and will keep you guys updated.

Thanks for all the info.

Most of us here are pretty much made up about the S10 vs the G10. However, since you are going to do a shoot-out with it anyway, pls let us know what you think personally ... wink.gif

Also, you might want to browse thru here - http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...8&hl=s10+vs+g10

In Penang Queensbay mall, there is a Panasonic shop at LowerGround floor selling ~RM5.1k if not mistaken. Should be able to bargain more if pay in cash..

I have tried to search around but seems like only this shop selling.. sad.gif

Not sure whether the price will further drop or not..sigh

i went to HN, and there was a Pana sales person demo the 42" PY800 on BD. He spent the effort to carry the same player, with the same BD and demo on 42S, 50S, 42G and Samsung 50" Series 6 Plasma. Honestly, the older model PY800 outstands all significantly. The image is so, real, and 3D. I was watching the CasinoRoyale BD. I find the same sharpness on all models, but the 3D effects on PY800 is missing in all other models, including G series. why? What is missing?

They are selling the demo unit 42PY800 for 4.8k, but a bit reluctant to spend that amount for a 1-yr old demo unit.

Oh wow, good to know my TV still sells for RM 4.8K and it's a demo unit too. I got mine for RM 6.5K about 1.5 years ago. Still very happy with it.
