Chelsea eye Benfica trio

CHELSEA are keeping tabs on Benfica's talented trio Angel Di Maria, David Luiz and Fabio Coentrao.

Sporting Director Frank Arnesen watched Benfica's 4-0 Europa League romp against Vorskla Poltava.

Argentine midfielder Di Maria, 21, has recently broken into his national side.

Brazilian defender Luiz, 22, and Portuguese winger Coentrao, 21, have also caught the eye.

Arnesen said: "We are always looking for good players."

do you guys think that malouda needs to improve on his shooting. yes he has been rather consistent on the left flank but i think his shooting is still not as deadly as it should be. really impressed by his play on the left causing the opponent's right back loads of problems though.

Malouda never good at shooting, except at close range.

Surprised that no one talks about the UCL draw? smile.gif

Top seeds: Barcelona (Spa) UEFA co-efficient 121.9, Chelsea (Eng) 118.9, Liverpool (Eng) 118.9, Man Utd (Eng) 111.9, AC Milan (Ita) 110.6, Arsenal (Eng) 106.9, Sevilla (Spa) 100.9, Bayern Munich (Ger) 98.3.

Second seeds: Lyon (Fra) 91.0, Inter Milan (Ita) 87.6, Real Madrid (Spa) 78.9, CSKA Moscow (Rus) 71.5, Porto (Por) 68.3, AZ Alkmaar (Hol) 64.8, Juventus (Ita) 63.5, Rangers (Sco) 56.6.

Third seeds: Olympiakos (Gre) 52.6, Marseille (Fra) 48.0, Dinamo Kiev (Ukr) 46.4, Stuttgart (Ger) 45.3, Fiorentina (Ita) 42.6, Atletico Madrid (Spa) 41.9, Bordeaux (Fra) 40.0, Besiktas (Tur) 32.4.

Fourth seeds: Wolfsburg (Ger) 21.3, Standard Liege (Bel) 21.1, Maccabi Haifa (Isr) 17.1, FC Zurich (Swi) 14.1, Rubin Kazan (Rus) 9.5, Unirea Urziceni (Rom) 8.8, APOEL Nicosia (Cyp) 4.0, Debreceni (Hun) 1.633.

From what I can understand, we may just draw some heavy-weights in the 2nd group, take your pick from Juve, Lyon, Inter, and some other top teams from the other 2 groups like Marseille, Atletico Madrid, etc.
*
Maybe the worst possible is Chelsea + Real Madrid + Olympiakos + Wolfsburg

or Chelsea + Inter Milan + Atletico Madrid + Wolfsburg

shevchenko oficially to kiev. so sad. but the worlds await.
so kiev have a lil boost for the champions league!!
*
It is a good move indeed, it will open up more opportunities for youngster and reserve.

Youngster tend to stay away from Chelsea because lack of opportunities in first team.

it's a pity how sheva who played so gloriously under CA has been told by the man himself that he is free to go. it's like a master who doesnt want to waste his disciple's time anymore.

sigh.

all the best Blues #7.

Curse Number 7 - Shevchenko, Mutu, Winston Bogarde - bench warmer hmm.gif

QUOTE(Nabeyl @ Aug 31 2009, 04:11 PM)
Burnley keeper Jensen: I just saw Blue shirts everywhere
Burnley goalkeeper Brian Jensen admits they were given a lesson by Chelsea on Saturday.

"I just saw blue shirts everywhere," he said. "The passing, the movement, the full-backs coming forward, the attacking football.

"It was a bit of a footballing lesson for us.

"It's great to watch and everyone can see the quality. It doesn't matter who they play, you saw it against Sunderland and Steve Bruce said it was one of the best attacking displays he'd seen. We saw it again and nobody can deny it.

"I don't want to say too much because I'm a Man United fan myself but, personally, I think Chelsea are the team to beat so far."

Correct me if i'm wrong...the ban says no player registration till january 2011...

does that means chelsea not only can't buy any player...but they also cannot loan any player...is that true?
*
Cannot register means cannot play, no point buying/loaning player which cannot represent the team.

I remember a few days ago I read a headline under soccernet that Roman is going to complain to FIFA about Man City's spending. And in which I reasonably think that it has really got to the nerves of Blatter and Platini.

Blatter and Platini are against English team.

where would lampard play if we had signed jerat? both of them play very similar roles in the respective clubs. dont see them combining exceptionally well for england too?
*
I just dont know why they can work well in england national team, maybe Mourinho back then will get them play together.

at least liverpool won be that strong now because liverpool is Gerrard-depended.

This are the best in the moment.

just dont know why need to put Gerrard out of position, his best is in CM? Benitez made that mistake before, and Capello should learn

FIFA09  shakehead.gif  ~~ PES2009  thumbup.gif ~~~

Ya no doubt the best lineup so far is BALLACK, LAMPARD, DECO, ESSIEN at midfield. But i want to see ZHIRKOV and STURRIDGE play. ZHIRKOV is my first 11 at PES2009 although stat not so good but he fit my style nicely and basically my ANELKA was 4th choice striker lol (maybe i suck at using him dunno why) my 2nd striker is always STURIDDGE.

BTW LAMPARD 2 biji for ENGLAND. Good news is no injury for CHELSEA player in ENGLAND squad.

Waiting for PES2010, try to find some pre-order, but still dont have?

malouda not good? has zhirkov played?
*
Malouda still no good enough at dribble passing defender, he is more on speed side rather than tricky side. Hope Joey and zhirkov will give more penetration especially against team that "parked bus infront of goal". Astro did not live the match so im not sure how we perform, as paper said we bombard their goal area in the second half. We are still a slow starter.

Watch MU vs spur, and Ars vs MC match yesterday, what i can say is MU are really our main challenger, as usual they are very creative in creating space for attacking and closing down space when defending. Evra make Lennon looks useless. Spur only have the energy to run in the first half, after 70 minutes they barely run, just walking only. If we need to win against them next week, keep Lennon and Crough at bay, they are the movement for Defoe's goal.

While MC pula have a great win against Ars, their all goals are from counter, i wonder how good will them be if they are goals down. Barry make them looks more organized than last year, a really important purchase with 12m only wink.gif i think Liverpool really miss that.

Arsenal.....they dont have any organize attacking option, they can bring ball into the penalty area but dunno how to finish it. they are only good with set piece when Gallas and Vermaelen come forward, but then this is the moment where arsenal kena counter.

He doesnt fast enough to chase ball, but he quite fast when he start to dribble rolleyes.gif, however he just not tricky enough
