Yeap thats it right there.
Official pics of the PS3 slim. Honestly... it looks ugly. Seriously... very ugly.

One major feature gone from the new PS3 slim is that there will be NO more Linux support on it. Atleast thats what Sony's saying. Oh and of course, no PS2 backwards-compatibility too.

More pictures (56k beware!):

at least it still got bd drive slot version... if it were tray loading/open cover...

also sony make it affordable .... with minimalist design

dont care abt ps2 BC that much.... ps2 still alive, kicking and still selling...

we just stick to the current ones.... plus if interested get the slim one as well

With the $100 price drop.... I'd still plunk down for the old PS3 if I'm to become a new PS3 owner. 40GB less space though... could be a problem for people who never just wants to upgrade for whatever reasons.

By the way.... Sony is still shipping with composite cables! doh.gif

As for those who still doesn't know the new features of Firmware 3.0 watch this here:

@ben.... sony has to ship ps3 with composite cables... if it sold separately, imagine the horror...

can't expect everyone got hdtv by now...

I know bro... I know.
But I really think they should make it a multi-AV solution. Composite and Component combined all in one like how the 360 previously does (although it has also reverted to composite only now with the new Elite bundle).

But ah well...
People will come in saying how much can a HDMI cable cost right? laugh.gif

Btw on the new firmware 3.0, I like how the What's New option been redesigned. Currently they're all just annoying RSS feeds at the moment and I always turn them off on any new PS3 consoles.

There could be some issues though... especially with the PSN store for the video service. I'm betting for US PSN users who aren't from US innitially will get a full blank 9-slots when we hover it.

hdmi cables... buy cheap hdmi cable at carrefour laugh.gif

we will see ps3 slim in malaysia soon (2-3 weeks later??? or sooner)

seem they have tweaked XMB.... looks much more smoother...

i really like the dynamic theme support...

i wonder for our region ... since we are way behind in terms of video service...

Sony did say that video services will really take off soon for other regions and countries. So since Malaysia is an officially supported region now, well... I'd say sometime around early to mid next year. If we're lucky Sony may just pull another suprise next month in TGS! biggrin.gif

I think the slim yea... would come 2 weeks to a month later.
But it'll be interesting to see if all Sony outlets in Malaysia drop the price of the PS3 starting today, which I probably won't see happening until atleast next week.

Added on August 19, 2009, 7:17 amAnd for the record, for those still bickering on if the PS3 slim's HDD can be replaced/upgraded, here:

QUOTE
One of the questions about the newly announced PlayStation 3 Slim was if the unit, like the current “Fat” PS3, would feature the ability to swap out the hard-drive disk. Fortunately, yes, you still will be able to do this with the PS3 Slim.

When asked, a Sony representative told EndSights curtly: “Yes users will be able to swap out the HDD in the new slim units.”

There you have it, folks.
