Never switch off bro. I updated the firmware via media storage coz the wifi was just too slow. Anyway, I've gotten a replacement unit from Sony but cannot log into PSN now coz it requires me to update the firmware to the latest again which is the v2.80. Dare not perform firmware update for now. So, just playing games on the PS3 now.

which fw are you on now?

you can use the proxy app to bypass the fw check if you want to play online / download from psn whistling.gif

I dont know whether it still works or not for signing in / online gaming since the PSN back-end might be upgraded and some functionality of 2.76/2.80 firmware are required, but you can try.

Read the first post on this thread http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/921614 on the basic understanding of the firmware & proxy, and you will have to redirect the ps3-updatelist.txt to a file in your computer.

Use CTRL-F to jump to the proxy section faster.

http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/639964

The URL depends on your PS3 region: fus for us ps3, fjp, fuk, fhk etc.

edit: I noticed the format of the ps3-updatelist.txt has been changed by Sony (if compared to the afterdawn guide)

the new one is:

CODE
# US
Dest=84;CompatibleSystemSoftwareVersion=2.7600-;
Dest=84;ImageVersion=00007f46;SystemSoftwareVersion=2.8000;

I think you have to change the CompatibleSystemSoftwareVersion into 2.3600 to match your current firmware. The line denotes the lowest firmware permitted before being prompted with the mandatory/must-update screen. But if it still fail, change the second line, according to the afterdawn guide.

they are exactly same byte by byte. pick the fastest one that you can download, or read the FAQs thread on firmware for further explanation.

alright thanks biggrin.gif

I read from the FAQ that the PS shouldn't be placed on the same level as my front speakers... but what if I place the PS next to and on the same level as my TV?

It won't matter if you place it next to your TV.

They aren't called points. Simply called dollars, ringgit, or whatever currency you buy them on.
This is PS3, not 360. lulz.

And at the moment, technically you can't buy the MY PSN cards online as no one is selling them... online, yet.

No it's not normal.
Reconnect to a different IP add, then log in again.

Goto account management, press triangle, select "Comment", erase everything there and try it again, your list will come back after that. This has happened on previous firmware versions too.

Oh in the newest 2.80 firmware "Comment" appears when you triangle over your user avatar in the friends list instead of in Account management where it used to be in version 2.6 and stuff.
So just clear your comments and then log back in and it should be fixed. Known bug from previous fw releases that still hasn't been fixed.
