Dear Sifus, I will be embarking on a major project which I hope will be done by this December 2009. I am planning to get all the major consoles, PS2, PS3, Wii and Xbox360 as I am a gaming freak and finally I am working and earning money. Phase 1 which will be completed by August 09 is getting a PS2 and a Wii. Phase 2:- October 09 PS3 Phase 3:- December 09...Xbox360 or a 32" TV. Major question now is can all these consoles be hooked up to a PC monitor? I have a TV in the living room but it is a common TV so every1 wans to rebut for it. My PC monitor currently is a CRT, will upgrade when the time comes. PS2 most likely coming in by this month so I'm in a rush to prepare all the necessary adapters/cables/converters. I've seen some sifus connect their consoles to their monitors. Can I know specifically what other parts to buy? Also, what about the sound? Thanks in advance for the help. Don't know where else to look for help d. Cheers.

Yes you can if you are willing to spend. I'm going to hook up all my consoles (16 of them) to a single TV soon, just waiting for the device to arrive to me now. The first step towards achieving this is getting a good upscaler (for your PS2 and Wii), minimal expenditure RM250, a really good one with close to 0 frame lag should set you around RM1,000. And high end for AV enthusiasts one could cost you USD4000 easily. My advice is, look for Micomsoft's XRGB device, the best solution for playing on LCD/Plasma TVs/monitors. If you don't want to spend so much money just to upscale PS2, you could hunt down the old 60GB PS3s. One drawback, however, is that I highly doubt your PS2 games being ori or the correct region.

Getting Started

|
You can go to any electronics store(I went to ACE),and look for an AV splitter.
My HDTV came with two component outlets,HDMI and VGA. If you get both the PS3 and 360,hook the PS3 up to HDMI and get VGA cables and hook the 360 up to VGA.Then, you can have both output 1080p.
If you haven't got any more composite outlets for your Wii or PS2(I don't know about you,but I saw absolutely no difference between component and composite for both Wii and PS2),go to an electronics store and get an AV switcher. You can plug both consoles in and have the switcher go to one composite outlet. From there, you can switch on the switcher whether you want to display PS2 or Wii.
Or....get more TVs?

You earned my respect Since you are getting PS2 first, there's no reason to get LCD TV so hastily as it's meant to be played on a CRT in the first place.

If you are planning to get 360/PS3 HDTV is a must. They can still be played on CRT but you lose out a lot on PQ and size.
