i only go woh fatt buy accessories such as tuner, guitar stand, etc, it's cheaper than other retail stores, and my preferred guitar string, which i only can find it in woh fatt, other places don't sell. That's the only reason i go to petaling street area, else i won't go.

QUOTE(gapnap @ Nov 7 2009, 02:36 AM) 60 years ? eh , got so old meh Bentley and Woh Fatt started at the same time lah got la. QUOTE Jason Lau, 48, is the owner of a music instruments shop, Woh Fatt Music House, which has been there for about 60 years. Lau is the third generation of his family to be there. His forefathers started the business of selling second- hand items at Jalan Silang in the 1930s.
“My grandfather had a shop here in the 1930s. When my father and uncles took over the business in the 60s, they felt that the idea of opening a music instruments shop was a potential for growth and they did it in Jalan Silang itself.
“When I took over the business, I moved to this lot where I am in now. Our family business never left Jalan Silang.” Lau said many traders have come and gone over the years — less than five have continued their family businesses there. “This place here is mostly frequented by foreigners. We have our regular and loyal customers who come back to us.” He still operates old-school style, open only till 7pm and closed on Sundays and public holidays. source

Last time i chatted with the uncle in woh fatt before, i asked why never renovate their shop, i was told they aren't focusing much on walk-in customers, cos their main business is wholesale.

Woh fatt is wholesale, unlike bently and other guitar shops which focusing on retail, that's why woh fatt customers service not that good. By the way, woh fatt stuffs aren't very cheap though.
