No sir. Sapphire Can overclock to 980/1180 with the stock cooler and the fan is set to 100% (hairdryer like sound) rclxub.gif
Try go several pages back, I proved it and post the benchmark also. Hurm..
I didn't test this clock with furmark yet. The last time I tested with Furmark I passed the test with 950/1145.
After that I just tested it with game benchmarking. tongue.gif
Tell you what. Nothing went wrong from playing Crysis(very High), Crysis Warhead (High), Far Cry 2, Hawx, COD4. COD5, GRID, GTA4, PES2009 and NFS Undercover.  thumbup.gif

REPORT!

yay rclxms.gif

haha btw the 4890 does have a limit .. limit of 900 is rather abit low....

i think its based on heat levels and voltage liao

however, can always buy preoverclocked versions such as HIS TURBO, like 1000core and 4400mem biggrin.gif
*
Sounds too luxury. Anyway now i'm running xfx hd4890 spec which quite okay but the heat, enough to burn your finger. During stress test can hit 80c. Seems like ati can't fix the heat issue.

It depends on ur PSU too...
*
really? i'm using the same psu for my gtx260 which did higher overclocking stable.

Btw since i'm running furmark test... the tests should not exceed 90celcius or 80celcius?

even when im loading it at 99% stress, my core temp already hit 77c and memory/shader temp around 85 celcius. is this seriously hot or should boost up the hair dryer fan?

just a little noise..it wont hurt much

Is not little, imagine the fan spinning at 4700rpm it sounds totally like hair dryer.

Comparison, nvidia reference cooler max at 3150rpm while Ati reference cooler max at 4700rpm.

ur casing similar to this one???
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

my gtx 260 length is similar to 4890's length
it just enuf to fit the space, u might need to change ur hdd position to below & also make sure tat ur dvd to mobo cable still tight (my personal experience only sweat.gif )
in addition, buy some casing fans for safety purpose coz the casing internal temperature might be higher than usual
*
If not mistaken, reference gtx260 is longer than reference card hd4890 because during installation, my hd4890 doesn't block the cm690 cable management plastic latch.

Open task manager->performance tab-> monitor the cpu usage and ram usage when idle..

Open Rivatuber -> hardware monitoring -> monitor gpu utilization
*
For your information, current rivatuner 2.24 is not supported by HD4890 at the moment. There is no hardware monitoring from it.

BUT! there is a solution done by guru3D. Click here http://www.guru3d.com/article/overclocking...adeon-hd-4890/2 and download it here http://files.guru3d.info/guru3d/generic/RivaTuner.zip

QUOTE
Now since the latest Rivatuner does (not yet) support the Radeon HD 4890 I have rewritten the configuration for Rivatuner to support the RV790 GPU. In the next official update this is all included at default, of course.

You need to place this configuration file into the Rivatuner directory after you installed Rivatuner.

Just take the configuration file out of the ZIP, and drop the RivaTuner.cfg in this location:  c:\Program Files/Rivatuner 2.24

Yet, there is bug as the sidebar logo of gpu core temperature and gpu fan duty/speed is not working. Need to wait for version 2.25

Oh , quite cheap ya ~ I though this HD 4890's price should over RM 1k above  biggrin.gif
This HD 4890's performance nice or not ?....Sorry cause i not really know about ATi Graphic Card.... tongue.gif
*
Of course nice, as good as my GTX260+. In terms on picture quality, is way much better. Tested GRID on GTX260+ and HD4890, ATi model provides smoother image.

kev, i guess your powercolor hd4770 is missing a 6 pin molex power connector. Is a standard package to have the converter included.

Even both my gpu i bought provides 2x 6 pin power molex connector in which i didn't bother using it cause my PSU has it.

Perhaps you should check with the shop you purchase whether did they miss out the 6 pin molex power connector.

Guys, for the price of RM 380, which is better?

Sapphire HD4770 GDDR5 512mb or Sapphire HD4850 DDR3 512mb?

Both at the same price, performance wise? doh.gif
