Yeah no doubt acceleration is important but let me ask u. Do you put in full throttle in first gear (and not shifting gears til it reach its peak torque or whatever it is) everytime the traffic lights go green? If not, i dont think there is any difference driving a City 1.5 vs the Type R or a turbocharged monster. Maybe higher capacity engine allows u to feel the 'power' earlier and better throttle response...just like how certain cars hav max torque curves that comes earlier in the RPM range, but doesnt mean it has more overall power than the other car
And unless ur car is a Golf GTI with the 2.0L Turbo engine, all the 2.0L NA cars should equally feel the same in engine power in normal drive conditions. When ppl test drive, of course they floor the throttle to test the power. But do you still do this after u own the car and hav to pay fuel frm ur own pockets? That is why i felt the car's handling and suspension is something that you can feel most of the time, under normal day to day driving
Too soft like the Altis, its comfortable but when it comes to negotiating tight corners, perhaps u feel like floating in a boat. Too hard (maybe the Lancer GT? haha) then u feel ur guts are shattering everytime u pass by our country infamous potholes and uneven roads.
I think Mazda/Ford has the best balance of comfort and handling excitement (Of course if you can afford it, cant beat the luxury marques with advanced adjustable suspension systems like the Audi, Mercedes )
While I agree with you that it is rarely I Rev over 4K rpm on my Mazda6 2.5. But still if you dont rev much in a City 1.5 and compared it with a higher CC car. A higher CC car like my Mazda6 2.5 Rev to 2.5rpm (which is most of the time we rev to 2.5Krpm as we accelerate) is still gonna accelerate faster than a City 1.5. Dont get me wrong I still agree with you that Turbo cars have less differences if the driver dont rev. And unless ur car is a Golf GTI with the 2.0L Turbo engine, all the 2.0L NA cars should equally feel the same in engine power in normal drive conditions. btw, fuel is cheap in Malaysia. It is subsidize by gov. Use by any means.
