I think the main problem is the price.L4D was charged as a full priced game, which is RM139,while the content it has is more or less as much as TF2.TF2 was priced lower and it's is part of Orange Box.People dont feel so ripoff, whether they buy TF2 standalone or from Orange Box as they have HL2 and Portal to mess around.
Then, out of no where and less than a year,Valve announced L4D2.Gamers still have to pay full price for a updated version of the game, een though it has a lot of new features. If Valve give a discount for existing L4D owners,or sell the game at lower price,i think people wont complain so much.
This isnt much different than Fifa,NFS or Madden release every year.
*sigh*
The Orange Box is the single most value for money package in the history of games retail. Comparing anything else to it is asinine... It isn't the benchmark for value for money, its the upper limit.
Now, I wouldn't call the content the same as TF2 (When it was released, not after the 4 major updates). Heck its not even close when you think about it. The Source engine upgrade, the Director, and the ragdolls... The MAGNIFICENT ragdolls!
You want to argue about multiplayer playtime, fine... But saying that the content and amount of work put into TF2 is the same as L4D, that's just grasping at straws.
So, you are equating the new content for L4D2 over L4D as a simple roster change?
Nerdrage is raging.

you make chocolate cake, and you make cheesecake...then you hope to combine both become mooncake. that's what they are sayin.
i am not spoilt by TF2 i rarely play it too. i feel empty about L4D. After the game, i feel like "just like that?" kinda thingy. like h@h@ said, the hours of enjoyment in L4D thing. For me, is not enough yet. I dont feel enough. Something is missing. But now...poof. L4D2 in the face. Nah, chew something out of this sequel...which was suppose to be in L4D 1.
anyways, we shall see. whether or not valve shall tremble... (too much D3)...

oh, +1 to plant. I am with you on this one.
Unfortunately, (Not a stab at you or anything) I don't think you'll find L4D 2 any better. It probably will feel a little less repetitive (With the Director having more options to mess with the flow) but if L4D bored you, I think this will probably do the same.
I don't know what are Valve's plans for L4D. It may just be dead in the water after the sequel drops... They may make into a Dawn of War + expansions style system where both are needed for maximum fun.
I do know that I still have faith in Valve... and when they say "hold on" I'll wait and listen to what they have to say. Valve are probably one of the few game companies out there that actively uses customer (And even public) feedback to directly alter their decisions... There's a reason they chose to drop the L4D2 announcement so suddenly which would obviously result in this kind of backlash. I'm curious as to why they would risk their reputation for it.
Aren't you?
