Well, I didn't buy it, but intended to buy it before I scooped a discounted SCPT865.

U should know that this one does NOT have DVD, neither Blue Ray.
from other reviews, it is just evolutions from SF1300 and SF2000, but more expensive.

Singapore price is S$750 cheapest.

Yup, I know this HT includes receiver instead of HDMI DVD player, and that's what I'm looking for since market hardly find such HT combination (speakers + receiver) at such affordable price. Any users of this HT? How's the SQ of this HT for gaming or movies purpose? Is it worth to buy it?

I listen to this unit at Sony KLCC last time and quite impressed with the SQ. Very good choice if you want something below 2k without built in DVDP. Plus you can get S350 BDP later which looks very very "ngam" with this unit thumbup.gif

I think sound quality should be no problem, if u don't blast it very loud.
for home use, it is sufficient.

well, what i didn't like it is that, it is not wireless at such a high price, 2nd, i don't like its thin stand at the bottom. it will look weird if u put it in the living room.

i think speakers look better with a cloth cover. and sf2300 doesn't have.

but if u don't mind all these, it is a good set.

what i like about it is the input and output options on the receive. u can connect a lot of stuff to it.

Does anyone know if the 'receiver' or amp unit can be used to fire OTHER SPEAKERS?

if i were to choose between the SS and SF, I would definitely go for SF for the tall boys. Tall boys look nicer and easier to position.

I bought a discounted panasonic Sc-pt865 at 40% discount off the original price, for its look, its wireless rear, its up conversion DVD(my old DVD doesn't have up-scaling capability). of course, also for its Viera Link with my Viera TV.
My initial concern with this is that, its connectivity is not great, no HDMI in. So future expansion to blue ray will be a problem, but that's a distant future. BDs are just too expensive for mainstream now. Still years to go.

If not, SF2300 is my next choice.

it's risky, because they are built together. u have to match the volts and ohms. it's not recommended.

The reason i ask is because some HTIB amps have proprietary connection to their speakers, and 6ohms ONLY to avoid the AV industry 4/8ohm standard.

Voltage is should not be a concern as it is by impedance limited (ie voltage = sqrt(P/I)).

Some sets from Sony specifically mentions that they cannot match with other speakers, but some sets actually can change speakers.

This particular set mentions neither...

Hi, tennis_ball, I'm currently looking for a budget (rm1.5k to 2k) HT with HDMI inputs, besides this SF2300 do you have any other recommendations for me? it doesn't matter if dvd player excluded coz I already have a hdmi dvd player...

for a complete set which includes both a receiver and speakers, i only found the Sony component speakers have HDMI IN. I searched many brands. Their HTiBs do not have HDMI IN.
Since u already have such a dvd, u don't need another dvd players. so only these Sony fit.

Another choice is to look at entry to mid level receivers, such as some Onkyo series. Some onkyo also comes with speakers. some only the receiver. If it is only the receiver, after u match some speakers, it will be out of your budget.

Well, if u buy the sony, most likely the connectors are proprietary, because it is sony. overall, i think the SF2300 is a good buy, but it is not considered cheap. or u can find its previous models e.g. sf2000 or sf1300. those are cheaper.

Found this set in HN Penang going for RM1999. Very tempted to get it but I don't think it will fit into my room for now. Still waiting patiently for my condo to be ready before I can get a home theather system to couple with my consoles and AV stuff.

I am trying to change the wires on the SF2300, anyone know where to get the proper connectors?

The original wires were too short and they have a different connectors than the plus and minus terminals.

sq is very good in a mid-sized hall.
thou the bass is not as strong as I expected, it does serve its purpose very well.
for below 2k htib with 2 hdmi inputs, its the cheapest you can find out there.
using this avr with ps3 + xbox works like a charm!!!!
nvr regret getting this.
