QUOTE(Skidd Chung @ Oct 19 2011, 09:24 PM) Thank you for the replies. I guess polycarbonate is out of the question for me then. I thought it would be more solid. What would be an appropriate roof type that can hold a person or 2 persons weight? my existing backyard is using those metal type (Red/Black), what previous a/c folk does was put another long wood in between those supported bar than walk in between My neightboor polycarbonate root having similar wood on top as well (can see from below too)

QUOTE(weikee @ Oct 20 2011, 12:40 AM) You may need 10m Temper glass. Market price is around RM 80/sqft. I am looking of this too but too expensive and hold this for another year. Rm80/sqft is cut throat price lor i was quote rm35/sqft for 12.38 laminated glass only, frame by others...

Same result, tempered glass = laminated glass ? Added on October 20, 2011, 9:31 amQUOTE(weikee @ Oct 20 2011, 12:40 AM) You may need 10m Temper glass. Market price is around RM 80/sqft. Hmmm I guess AC fellas will know what to do, but I just don't want to suffer a hole in my roof if those AC fellas a a little careless.

QUOTE(weikee @ Oct 20 2011, 09:49 AM) For skylight I prefer temper glass is not noisy and no color fade. I m thinking of a cheapest way. Tempered glass use mainly for load. Since skylight is just a cover and there is many frame support from below, why still need expensive tempered glass. Probally laminated glass will do. That can reduce the cost. A thick glass already better a lot than the polycarbonate for noise. But do glass color fade under the sun for long period?

Aiyah color fade on polycarbonate, the laminated price and laminated actually not much difference because temper, think about rm5 extra pqft. But this I am not too concern now, I can do the parking after I move in.

It get dirty and look dull when not clean frequent. All my house shade is using polycarbonate for over 10yrs. Cheap at that time. But glass look better.

What would be an appropriate roof type that can hold a person or 2 persons weight? How often you need to have 2 persons standing on the roof repairing/servicing your airconds? Just put a piece of large and thick plywood on top the roof you can step on any where you want if the roof is flat. The weight is spread. Not enough, 2 pieces. plywood is cheap just that after the job you have to have a place to keep and hide them away.

Have been looking for polycarbonate as well. Interested in the pergola style but using ms steel frame which is cheaper than wood. So far 2 quotes for 22x14 car porch is ard rm5500-5800 (rm18-19psqf) using solid type polycarbonate. Anyone has contractors with better price?
