During last time, yes it's true that console can spoil the tv cause during that time not all tv support the scan frequency that the console required. Some, even though supports the required scan line frequency, pro-long usage can stress the electron gun to it's limit and hence spoil it.
But this is only apply to old pre-historical tv, all new gen. tv won't have this problem at all as they don't use electron gun, no more.
