I think who we sign will have an impact on where Rooney plays. Sign a striker, Rooney out wide. Sign a Valencia, Rooney plays up top.

I've already went through this argument with kobe few days ago and I stick with my views. We need a good attacking midfielder. We can't only rely on our strikers to do the job, the problem with our midfield is we have no one that we can always pass the ball to and hope that magic conjures. The other top 3 teams have their own midfielder that can hold the ball, pass and score. Carrick and fletcher can't be that player, they are best at their central defending duties. Anderson is our only bet but god he still hasn't scored yet and still a tad unstable in terms of reading the game and adapt to the game's speed.

Carrick and Fletcher are certainly more than capable when it comes to scoring. I just don't think that they are unable to, but rather they haven't been allowed to. : / It really depends on when you looked at Anderson. If it's during the period where he 'shat on Fabregas,' then I disagree. But if it was AFTER the injury, you'd be out of your mind to expect him to have his fitness back so soon given his all action style. And he's 20 - have not seen a consistent 20 year old. Not even Messi.

QUICK EDIT: In case you think I think Carrick-Fletcher are better than Lampard/Gerrard/Fabregas, I don't but I think they can reach the level. And if you say we need so-and-so, none of who we need are available. Are they? Name me one top central midfielder that would play for us and come on a fee we'd agree upon?

And as for Benzema, I think his agent's statement already puts the argument to rest.

It's true that they haven't be allowed to do the attacking midfield part but again I don't think they need to. They just need to stick to their job and let another midfielder do the job which is Anderson or our wingers. Park isn't a goalscorer, Nani is though but central midfield has always been the core of modern football and based on current games, we've been missing out on this area. I've already mentioned that there're aren't any so called available targets but with our transfer budget, I won't be surprised if we could even bring Fabregas in. And for Benzema, all this are just gimmicks, he will come.

Okay well if he doesn't come, I want my teh tarik. wink.gif Likewise, you'd get yours if he comes.

No available targets = no one coming.

All the money won't bring Fabregas in. Unlike Kaka to Madrid, Fabregas to United would be akin to moving to Inter Milan from AC. He wouldn't do it and United isn't Fabregas' wet dream. Barca are.

Who next? Essien?

Tackle and run? Fletcher does that perfectly well.
Whoever we buy for the CM position, if we're looking for one that is, he must have passing ability. Without it, there's no chance whatsoever of us dominating teams. We would end up losing the ball regularly. Barca hardly had a monster of a DM playing against us, but still we found it hard to get through their midfield. It's all about positioning and keeping the ball better, along with the right tactic to nullify the opponent. We got hit early on, and that mess things up for us..
*
We were quite simply shite that day. The same team has beaten the same Barca team over two legs the year before. We were just shite. Minus Ronaldo, minus Tevez, we're lacking 2 world class players but we have apt replacements in Nani and Berbs.

No point buying Fabregas when we bought Anderson and no point buying Benzema if we're harping on Welbeck being a star for us (right from SAF's mouth).
