Hi all, I own a cm690 casing with 4 120mm fan. 1 inlet at the front and 1 at the side panel. Exhaust is at the top& back panel of the casing. It has been less than a month but my casing is already covered in dust inside and outside. What can I do to reduce the dust and how can I clean them from my mobo ?

Install the dust filter for the side cover fan (the front fan is already having a filter).

CM 690 is good for airflow, but it also attract dust. It is quite norm ...
Try to clean your case once every month (which I am doing right now).

there's no effective way to reduce the dust effectively i'm afraid.

all u can do is to clean it regularly. the fastest way is by blowing it. don't use vacuum when ur cleaning the mobo, gc or any electrical/electronic parts as static might damage the components (diodes, chips etc).

i'm oso using the same casing, 7 90cfm fans inside running. with or without the filter in a week or 2, a thin layer of dust is alr visible inside. sweat.gif

Find a thin sponge to cover the top just like the ones provided for the front cover. Then use a filter or DIY filter (pantyhose) for all the fans.

or change ur casing into negative airflow set up (more hot air goes out,less cool air go in).

currently oni my front 12cm fan is blow in,others are all exhaust,so i oni need to clean the front regularly

I disagree. should make it positive airflow n put some intake filters on the fans. this should minimize the dust

Hmm yea less than a month i can already see dust. By blowing it you mean using a hairdryer ?

hairdryer? sweat.gif

no la, dunno how to say the thing, i'm using it to blow the dust out ( the one u squeeze2, blower?) tongue.gif

u can get it at any pc shop, cheap too. and don't forget to get a brush, either a hard or soft type. perfect for fans, mobo and gc.

it didn't minimize the dust,it just minimize the dust to be seen by ur eyes frm the outside,once in a while u still need to wash ur filter

and filter will lower ur fan's airflow as well (cfm),although not so obvious but the effect is still thr

@Sib

Hahaha, urs look like it came out from the desert. laugh.gif

@TS

Im running 2 front intake, 1 rear, 3 high cfm exhaust at top, and 1 rear exhaust. At front there's already sponge lyr so no need to worry, the side is kinda bad.
At the bottom, place a thin sponge/filter for ur psu, its one of the weak points of CM690, its gonna kill ur psu long term if u leave it naked. wink.gif
My bottom got no fan, just a filter cuz got no space, too cramp with my pump. sweat.gif .
Dust will always be there unless ur in a 'dust free room' of course, u'll have to clean the surroundings too.
Get urself the Cyber Clean stuff, its very easy to clean anything, fans, intakes n filters, dun use it on ur electrics though.
I've just cleaned my pc after 6-7 mths, and it wasnt that bad cuz i clean my room often. The dust layer collected was just like a house thats not been cleaned for 2 weeks. (thats my house la, others i dunno) nod.gif

like the psu and gc where cooling is really important, if the dust cover the fans/heatsink . . . means less airflow, means more heat buildup then ends up with damages to components. For rams, not really, unless u oc them wit high volt, which requires colling too.
