I think hughes will be the first manager to be sacked off next season... He focus too much on player bargains, but not team construction.

Well, didn't they say Giovani Dos Santos had the ability to turn into a great player?

Look what happen. Eh, come to think of it. Where is he?

Real Madrid-bound winger Cristiano Ronaldo looks set to become one of the highest paid sports stars in the world. A report claims that although the player would initially earn £9.5m-a-year, it would rise 25% season-on season to £29m-a-year - or £557,000-a-week.

After having seen Pato, Giovanni dos Santos and Aguero (Tournament MVP and you should see the amazing goals that he scored) personally in action at FIFA U20 World Cup.

Aguero is the one player that Chelsea or City should not miss. He is heads and heels above the rest (including Bojan). He has scored over 20 goals per season over the last 2 LaLiga seasons (44 goals) with Atletico Madrid. Strike rate performance almost similar if we were to compare him with Messi (54 goals). Mind you Messi has the best team in the world to support and the CL campaign goals to include.

IMHO. Aguero can replace Tevez (albeit at CR7 wages and double Tevez signing fees) if United so chooseth.

City should spend the money on Tevez and Aguero. whistling.gif

Lastly to complete CR9 signing RM should go after Park. whistling.gif

Park is not very much appreciated by the local MU fans and British media. By signing Park RM will be providing CR9 familiar midfield support/rapport and add international fan base from Korean community.

IMHO.

RM is after Gael Clichy next.

Like I say the exodus has just begun because of the tax rate and the financial tsunami facing BPL teams.

RM has the financial wherewithal. Local Spanish financial institutions with 'socios' investors and of course the gahmen.

This is getting tiring and lame. I would suggest you to at least research some facts before spouting off s**t about other ppl's clubs. Or even better just talk about the club you support. Thanks.

How many others will follow Ronaldo's lead by fleeing to Spain in tax dodge?

Arsene Wenger was the first to forecast an exodus of foreign talent from the Barclays Premier League when tax rates for the rich were raised to 50 per cent, hitting the high earners in the pocket to pay for Government borrowing.

Cristiano Ronaldo was one of them, taxed half his £130,000-a-week earnings at Manchester United from April next year before he spotted a nice little loophole under new Spanish regulations aimed at foreign nationals working in the country.

Ronaldo pays no tax on the first £6,035 he earns a year and is taxed 10 per cent of the £2,230 after that, 22 per cent up to £34,600, then the higher rate 40 per cent above that.

But he was put in a super-tax bracket under new rules. From next April, he would have
paid 50 per cent on any earnings over £150,000, but he can leave all those worries
behind as he prepares for a new life in Spain.

Ronaldo will pay just 23 per cent tax on his salary at Real Madrid over the next six years, saving himself a fortune as he pulls in £150,000 net a week as a basic wage at the Bernabeu.

In addition, he will have a lucrative half share of his image rights, the proceeds of
which will increase by 25 per cent for each year of his contract.

Perhaps others will follow, recognising the financial benefits of a career in the Spanish league.

Wenger said: ‘With the new taxation system, with the collapse of sterling, the domination of the Premier League on that front will go.

‘When the pound was at 1.45 or 1.60 to the euro, it was OK, but now from one day to the next it will be a financial problem for all the English clubs.’

Andrey Arshavin complained bitterly about the new taxation law just three months after he signed a deal worth £80,000 a week at Arsenal.

The Russia forward will be stung for another 10 per cent in tax on earnings over £150,000 (under two weeks’ work for him) from next April, something his agent is in
negotiations with the club to resolve.

Arshavin said at the time: ‘It’s important to understand clearly and in detail what
money you are going to get and what taxes to pay, so that there are no unpleasant
surprises of the kind I am facing now.’

His agent Dennis Lachter added: ‘The British Government has suddenly started to solve their problems through the crisis of people who earn big money in the UK.’

SOS818 - Another well-researched and write-up post for readers of this useful thread regarding PSTT 2009. Your Post No. 166 herein perked me up like I say. The only thing I can add for the moment is twinkle toe (i.e. CR9) is 'soaring on his heels' with another article
http://shunews.shudoo.co.uk/index.php/2009...-soaring-heels/.

P.S. Its great to see folks like you contributing posts and or threads that are 'substantial ' and relevant rather than padding their 'post portfolios'. I'll be back in Malaysia in the late fall. Before that I'm quite sure I will be watching CR9 and RM No. 5 possibly in action in Toronto and in Washington during Real Madrid MLS preseason tour . My tickets are from my soccer buddies.

Obviously you have not done your research. I suggest you read my previous posts especially No. 172 and 174 before you comment on my post regarding my lack of research or otherwise.

FYI I'm not one of those who jumped on a bandwagon and may I remind you that this thread is on PSTT 2009.

In any case this does not preclude me from discussing players of calibre like CR, Kaka, Messi, Tevez, Aguero etc. Since when did you own RM CF, if I may echo your childish talk? Obviously you do not know much about financing and even about RM financial structure. I must remember you are just a fan only.

My interest here is to kickstart or dropkick you guys to contribute substantial articles or posts rather than being led down the garden path by the jingoistic and biased media. This will augurs well for making this a well-informed and enlightening forum. Not filled with inane lowgrade posts like yours.

I will just end up by saying that I enjoy playing and watching EPL soccer or football - jogo bonito - not just supporting one particular club but rather the top tier teams because of players like Tevez, Drogba, CR, Rooney, Owen, Robinho and of course Messi, Ronaldinho, Kaka, Aguero, etc on the continent

Perhaps one day I will share with you why I'm qualified to discuss about football issues more than most of you because of my playing experience in KL on a state level and with others (Africans, South Americans, East Europeans), coaching and managing soccer teams in North America while pursuing postgraduate study and working as a professional in the high tech industry.

P.S. Can you refute my statement about RM financial structure which you quoted in your post.

True, you and I do appreciate VERY MUCH PJS13.
My statement here is that Park is not very much appreciated by the local MU fans and British media.
They 'obviate' or underrate his talent and contributions only crediting him with hard work. After following local MU forums and British media to cite a few

Go figger why I say that.

Another case in point Arsenal's Eboue. Do you know I believe his teammates and AW appreciate him more than the ethnocentric British media or some of the local fans who blame him for any slightest mistake.

Ditto for him too.

Conversely the locals (media and fans) fawn over Scholes (an overrated British player) and any play or pass he make is 'genius'. He can't do no wrong else he is 'cheeky' if he foul or scythe his opponents from behind or handball causing his team one-player short.

Pompey receive big bid for Johnson

Peter Storrie has revealed that Portsmouth have received a bid for Glen Johnson, with Liverpool said to be leading the race for the full-back.

Pompey executive chairman Peter Storrie has told Sky Sports News that a sizeable offer has been tabled for the full-back and that a deal could be concluded imminently.

The England international has enjoyed the best season of his career to date in starring for Portsmouth and in the process has established himself as Fabio Capello's first choice at right-back.

Former club Chelsea, who Johnson left to join Portsmouth, have been credited with making a bid, as have Manchester City and Liverpool, who in some reports are thought to be the front-runners for his signature.

Storrie admits he will not block the player from joining a club that will enable him to play in the UEFA Champions League next season.

He told Sky Sports News: "Glen has had a fantastic season for us and I think he is the best right-back in the country at the moment.

"I've know Glen a long while, from my West Ham days. When I re-signed him (at Portsmouth) we talked things over.

"He said, 'If one of the big four come in with Champions League football, would you stand in my way?'

"I told him I couldn't do that. Providing the deal is right for Portsmouth and Glen then we will look to try and do something in the right way.

"It is very hard to try and hold people back when they have a chance to play in the Champions League. I accept that."

When asked if an offer of between £15million and £18million had been tabled, Storrie replied: "You may not be a million miles away from the mark."

Storrie went on to concede that a deal could be struck imminently, adding: "I wouldn't think it would be too long."
