my 3rd drive is ori after i extract my original key/id from original drive and flash to it...
last long till now...but sometime gave me DRE

u know why it happens like that? just a brief information to make sure ppl would not misunderstand. later noobies cakap jasper tak bagus pulak.it's not because of jasper or not.
ur jasper is modded or swapped with old dvd-drive.
at the early days, jasper's dvd-drive cannot be mod unless u extract the key and flash it to old dvd-drive that can me mod. that's why ur dvd drive broke so early.. ur jasper is a new set, but not ur dvd-drive. maybe they took from xenon/zephyr or falcon. only new jasper's dvd drive can be mod without swapping it.
this would not be happening if u're playing original disc since they would just leave the original dvd-drive untouched.

this one not change the lens.. they replace ur dvd drive with a other.probably from a dead xbox's...

i dunno about that. standard warranty for 360s in the states is 3 months, unless they've upgraded it to 1 year.

hahaha... thats the thing they did actually.. extract key from his broken drive.. and reflash to a new dvd-drive.

Haven't played games streamed from a disc like months... installed my most frequently played games to my hard drive.

Two things occur playing games streamed right off the disc :
- noisy
- it gets warmer quicker than ever

But I'm using my own home-made cooler fans that produce noise, but wth..

This is because the developer haven't fully know how to utilise the PS3 power due to the complex of CPU.

Your only choice is
1. Try take it to a reliable shop ( Bernard, tech two, etc. You can find reputable shop in this forum. ) and ask them to check out or clean the lens for you. This should be cheaper.

2. Worst come to worst is the lens died. You have no choice but to get a new dvd rom.

3. You can forget about it and sell it of whatever you remain and get a new 1 or get a new conosle or whatever you can do with the money.

I always get a second opinion when stuff like that break down... Maybe you can see if other shops can give you cheaper fix.

Dah lah jual barang rosak, and then charge to fix lak tu. I wouldnt want to give more money to unreliable shops like that. Better look for a better more reliable shop that is frequently visited by gamers (have regular customers etc...). They have a reputation to jaga, so they take more care.

Regarding your drive questions. I only use my drive to play games, nothing else. No movies no music. All of that I either rip it on my 360 HDD or put it on a thumbdrive to play. This habit isnt just for the 360, I've been doing this since PS1 era... old habit... haha... lens issues plague the shit out of me last time (especially the PS2).

and yes, I brought my console from Ivan. He already stated VERY CLEARLY that he only provide technical warranty. parts I have to get my own OR I send to Singapore. I choose the latter if anything goes wrong to my console as I don't want to have recurring problem like those using XCLAMP fix yada-yada since I'm paying similar price for repair & send to sG and summore SG's console will be return immediately with a replacement and not waiting them to fix like what Sony offered
