Hi there, I recommend you to get the Gmail for Mobile app as well. I use it more than the other alternative (the one you're trying to set up), since it has the bad habit of leaving headers visible at the Email section. If you want to remove the headers, you'll have to delete them from gmail's email server, which is pretty stupid imo.

The Gmail app can view image attachments as well, although it is scaled down to fit the phone's screen. Unfortunately it can't send image attachments. For that, we'll need the one you're trying to set up. That's why I have both, but usually use the java app unless I need to mail attachments.

i have to agree that leaving the email header at the "Email" tab in our messaging would really be rather stupid...but nevertheless, it's quite a convenient way if u don want ur menu to overload with a number of apps

hi guys how to update n82 firmware without using NSU?
*
i think you'll need to...
u can use the OVI suite, which is the latest version of the Nokia PC Suite..i used that software to update my firmware..

there is an alternative, Pheonix Flashing tools, but i don recommend that one, previously i had a bad experience with it when i was using my N81, i bricked the phone when i tried to flash it..

lolz...yeah, but hacking discussion is based on intention...so if u ask "if i hacked my phone can i installed <cracked apps here>??", mod will still give u warning and ban, so make sure discussion is about freewarez and mods like silent camera shutter sound, max brightness, etc etc

it's a app that can unpack the firmware files, allow some tweaking, and then repack back...
so far supporting 5800, n97 and other newer models only, and it can add/remove language, hacked by default, natively disable camera shutter sound..and add a few default apps..no one tried modifying anything more then that though..

@ziggy: last time when i own N81, i changed my product code a few times, but i don have any experience of any bricking risk at all...u just need to connect to PC, use NSS to obtain ur phone info, on the product code text field just change to the product code u want, and click on the flash button..the whole thing was so fast u didnt even notice any changes...it's just a simple thing, and as far as i know, no one bricked their phone on changing product code...
as for firmware update, as long as you are using OVI suite to update, it should be safe from bricking at all

Added on April 7, 2010, 9:41 am@eone: it seems like ur audio port is damaged? maybe plugging in other device?

Added on April 7, 2010, 9:42 am@ahpaul: latest malaysia FW is v35 already...it's a great update IMO, less laggy and slightly more responsive

first of all, i would like to know what firmware you are using..

as far as i know the best hacking method would be HelloOx
explorer expired, then you should just use the latest version, just waiting 3 seconds on start and quit, aint that much pain if u ask me

to install HelloOx, you need to sign it first, and to get the cert, u can refer to some sites, but due to the warez that is available on that site, i cant share with you here. u can also google various way that u can get ur apps signed so that u can install it. after installation of helloOx, i would recommend you to restart your phone first, then run it. it will handle the rest of the hacking itself. i think at the end of the hacking it will ask u if u want to install an extra app, u can just press no, but i forgot what the app will do XD

after that, ur phone would be hacked, u will see RomPatcher installed, with the open4all patch, which when enabled, will allow you to view private folders.

if u read the forum rules, you should know that hacking in the intention to install cracked apps are not allowed, i strongly suggest u to edit your post before mod comes and warn you

ok, so here's what you'll need to do:
download HelloOx(latest version would be best)
get it signed, u can either apply ur dev cert or find some online signing site to do that
install HelloOX, after install, you just need to run it, and it will do everything for you.

note: i strongly suggest to restart phone after installing HelloOx, before running it.

actually for the hacking methods right now, HelloOx is the easiest, and the only problem would actually be getting ur own dev cert, but if you already have, then i support it aint a problem for you at all

for some of the terms you are unfamiliar with, i'll try to explain:

dev:
short form for developers. Indie devs means Individual Developers, normally means 1 person, or a small group of developer that doesn't really belong to any big programming company.

Signed and Unsigned:
From Symbian s60v3 onwards, application(sis) would need to be signed, so that random application that might cause harm to your phone will not be able to install. Games, apps that you bought officially are normally signed by related company, unsigned apps are normally those indie developers that cant really apply a public signing cert, or applications that are cracked illegally, those, of course, will not be signed.

From what i know right now, there are 2 types of certificate that can sign apps. 1, is what normally software company use, public signing cert, that u can just install right away. another type would be developer's cert, which is tied to a specific IMEI number. It can still be used to sign applications, however it is only able to sign the app according to the specific IMEI number, which means 1 phone only. Those are normally used for development purpose.

Hacking:
our phone is obviously capable of more stuff that it comes from retail store. Hacking a symbian phone, would means that you would be allowed to access OS files that were previously protected by the Symbian security, in other words, gaining full access to the OS and the files, so that we can do some modification, like silent camera lens, no red light during recording, installing unsigned apps, removing and adding some stand-by screen apps, and feature pack 2 onwards, customized theme effects, of course, there are more, but these are the ones that i can remember right now ^^

Cracked:
it's a forbidden word in most mobile forum, LYN included tongue.gif
it means the app was actually a retail application/game that someone have purchased, and was somehow modified so that other people can install it without paying it. It is obviously illegal, and mentioning it in most forums will result in warning, or ban, so, please do not talk, or hint about installing cracked apps in your phone also to avoid possible warning and apps. Cracked application/games are also sometimes refereed as warez

not too much, but i help u somehow get the idea what it's about...

hello
i got prob here ..
suddenly,my images and musics all gone ..
but when i connect with laptop using usb cabel
items still have in memory card ..
any idea on how to solve this ?
*
i didnt encounter that issue before...i think it's kinda similar to that music library wont refresh problem...try plug out, plug in again...
worse come to worst, i think u'll have to hard reset the phone...
it maybe memory card issue as well, so my suggestion is better backup ur whole memory card into ur computer first..just in case

izzit you set to use ur phone memory?

anyway this day should be my worst day. cry.gif  cry.gif

I left my n82 to charge. Upon collecting and tried to access the menu.

It surprised me with a white screen with just a hint of display. shocking.gif  shocking.gif

The phone was still running as I can still hear the sound of it.

I grabbed my tv-out cable and hooked it to a tv unit and I'm glad to see the symbian os in colour! rclxm9.gif

So my question is,does that mean it's LCD problem and not phone hardware problemblink.gif
*
i got hit that issue before, but mine was black screen tongue.gif
mine is i trip and fell down while the phone is in my pocket, and i think the LCD was damaged. I just off it and leave it overnight, and the display came back again, with one while line of dead pixel rclxub.gif

you might wanna try just off it for at least 12 hours then turn on again, but ur case i suspect charger's might caused unstable voltage and the voltage spike caused some damage to your LCD?
