I had problem worse that all of you guys in here.
I ended up having the sub faced in towards the walls.

Yesterday, i held my breath and just "kan kan lai" revamped my entire living room and rotated my whole setup.
Half way through I almost panic and wanted to give up as I'm not sure if it's gonna help me find a better sub and listening position.
From 8~1in the morning, I sat down when it's all done, ran YPAO and re calibrated with a SPL which I borrowed from "Aiman04" and surprisingly, YPAO did a good job, everything was spot on! And it sounded wonderful.

Yes I had a null area, "htkaki" and "Jack from SVS" was spot on.
Now I took down all my acoustic absorbers, and it still sounds great. Too tired to put them back on and experiment on the improvements.

Some just prefer to have more bass, then the velo would be their choice.
It's personal preferences. To be honest, when I first brought back my SVS i thought it wasn't working properly.
I had the perception that velo is how a sub should sound.
One beauty for deep dig subs are that they sync well with after impact bass from the fronts as they do not overshadow the details from other speakers. "that's just how i feel"
I've got an issue with my sub thou, my listening area is just perfect, but when I'm in the other room, I get headaches. Need to work on sound proofing.
