5 years experience... assuming you have a degree and can handle a full set of accounts - will probably range from 3K in a small company (1 or 2 person acctg dept) to 6K in a MNC (if you're an above average performer).
*
har, 5yrs exp with degree can get 3k only in small co? what if i apply for snr exec position or asst manager? but 6k in MNC is ok biggrin.gif

In a small company, exec = manager = director = CFO. Most accountants in small companies are 1 leg kick.

MNC, 6K I would say is top end. Your 5 years experience will probably need to be Big4 or regional experience with a Fortune 500 company.

am considering whether i want to go Sg next year or not. Cos rite now still thinking of other possibilities. my company wants to offer me to go to Shanghai. but haven't mention bout the package yet. But I don't think i want to go so far leh rclxub.gif

My company is the same. Long term objective to consolidate into Shanghai.

As far as packages go, expat is fine (ie. international pay, not Chinese pay and tax equalisation). If it's on local pay, then it's a 2 step promotion before it equals current Singapore pay. And even after the promotion, you're still subject to the ridiculously high China income tax rate. So personally, it's a no-go if it's not expat or they don't include tax equalisation with the promotion.

If it parallel move, no need to even think.

although my company's asia pacific regional office is in SG, and my boss also got consider moving me to regional office, but i don't think i will comfortable sitting with all the big boss sweat.gif even if i decide to work in SG, i'll probably find another job. unless my company give me place to stay and offer attractive package. I'm thinking to work else where after i finish my part-time degree end of this yr. Want to save more in shorter time biggrin.gif

no lar, actually ppl in other plant wants to resign.boss just say only. But i know if i accept pressure will be very big. cos firstly accounting treatmentin other countries may be diff, and other plants' operation is bigger than malaysia's operation.

Oh, you're still doing your degree part time... then there could be significant variation in the offers you'll get, as a significant % of employers will view your work experience as PRE-graduation experience, rather than post-graduation.

I was thinking that you had already graduated for 5 years.
*
Har?! have to review like that?! tsk tsk tsk.. teruk lah macam nih! But anyway the pay I'm getting now is more or less the market rate for grads with same amount of exprience also. Does all employer in SG must look at your qualification and not your exp only? some co in Malaysia don't even look at qualification. unless you are fresh grad. when i came for interview in my current co, my 'kwai lo' boss din even ask bout my qualification blink.gif i think he don't know that i'm still doing part-time.

guys whats the best job site for jobs at sg? jobsdb sg?
*
i think there's a few suggestion at post #1. u can jus try all. no harm.

QUOTE(seantang @ Jul 9 2009, 07:58 PM)
Try your luck, I guess.

If you look at most mid-level or relatively senior accounting job ads, they specify the number of years experience post graduation or post professional qualification.
*
wah like that ar? I nvr took notice of that actually. Usually screen through all the requirements too fast.

But anyway, if i want to switch back to do admin and HR i think the salary will be lower than finance rite? Unless i one leg kick do acct cum admin cum hr like what i'm doing now. few mths ago I'm thinking of working in changi airport in the hr dept.

smile.gif I agree with seantang, most accountants/FCs are one-leg-kick fella in the company. Most of the time I see FCs =

1. IT manager
2. HR manager
3. Logistics
4. Boss <- the higher boss becomes transparent
*
Har? IT & Logistics also they tapau? or u mean the CFO overseeing these departments? I think for a normal exec, they won't know IT & much of logistics, well at least i don't tongue.gif

which area?

Actually my hotel is near Orchard road but i don't mind to yum cha anywhere, I can just take taxi or MRT, at least it gives me a chance to explore SG.

What is the most famous newspaper in SG? izzit NST?

I read in this thread b4, that some forumers mentioned that saturday usually have more job vacancy ad, just like The Star in Msia. I want to try my luck with newspaper since i din get much respond through jobstreet. Since I'm going to be there on friday and saturday, i guess i can buy the newspaper. Is their newspaper being sold in almost everywhere? Never pay attention to it everytime i go there tongue.gif

So anyone wants to yum cha? Am keen to know new friends smile.gif

drop the 'NEW' . It's call as Straits Times here. Normally have lot's of classified section on Saturday. You could get the paper almost everywhere, etc .. shops in MRT station , supermarket like Fair Price, Cold Storage, Prime ...., or neighbourhood shops.

.... another popular paper is The New Paper , lot's of gossips and day to day happening in Singapore but classified section normally filled up with massage service  brows.gif

IMPORTANT  don't forget to buy the TOTO for the coming CNY big draw, jackpot price should hit around SGD10million  SGD12million rclxm9.gif
any yum cha also can count me in  cool2.gif

For Malaysians who don't have PR status in SG, do you still apply for jobs that states: " only Singaporean or PR needs apply" ? I wonder how many can get job if most of the job requires Singaporean or PR?

why do you wanna apply for a job that have no opening for you ?

Because i see most of the jobs state this. I was just wondering because many fresh graduate also able to get hold of a job that requires 2-3yrs exp. So i was thinking maybe ppl do try out for those that require PR status although they are not.
